I’m surprised Yoho believes in wedges since they’re a simple machine discovered by scientists.

Hm...so if Danielle Smith is a genuine crazy person then implying that she may or may not be a Lizard-Man Person isn't outside the realm of possibility?

Don't turn wedges into a wedge issue.

Typically, a wedge issue refers to issues that one party one that a party employs to exploit division within the other. But I suppose you could apply the term to an issue through which Smith is pushing away the moderates of her own party.

I mean forget about other groups being discriminated against in Danielle Smith's whole lifetime, someone should have asked her about women in Iran right now.

Now now, to be fair she said "[anti-vaxxers are] the most discriminated against group that I've ever witnessed in my lifetime." She's a conservative: she probably quite literally doesn't know anyone who has been more discriminated against.

Ya but she's also old AF and likely has at some point seen something. We can grant her a certain level of ignorance. Still a dubious claim though.

Even if we want to use 'witnessed' in the most limiting form, it would be interesting to hear her specify. I'll bet the best she comes up with is "witnessing" a Venezuelan refugee getting fired from her job at a foodcourt or something.

Any reasonable conservative will probably just not vote because for some reason voting for the lesser of two evils goes against their sensibilities.
There's literally no way anyone could justify supporting a ghoul like Smith. The UCP has been difficult enough to support which is why most of the anti NDP types were flooding this thread prior to the UCP getting elected, and made their way to the federal thread instead. I know, I know it's all the "crazy lefties" in this thread bringing up legitimate issues that are the problem.

Want to bet? We're about to see some Olympic level gymnastics as "fiscal conservatives" find ways to justify supporting Danielle Smith.

I'd say I'm a fiscal conservative.. and I will not vote for Danielle Smith.
If I am representative of the typical Calgary fiscal conservative, the UCP really shot themselves in the foot here.

They should just do what I did.
I have acknowledged and admitted that 'Fiscal Conservatism' in my lifetime, regardless of party, is dead.
Sorry kids. Thats a problem we're going to dump on your heads. We didnt choose to do it, I personally didnt want to do it, but its done.
It is no longer a talking point for me. You want to talk about the viability of Public Service Pensions? Thats another Political Football that we're going to toss into our kids' hands.
"Catch!! Have fun!!"
And Draconian social policies dont interest me. Blame me all you want, but I cant get out of bed to fight for the plight of the Anti-Vaxxer, the most plagued and devastated demographic on the face of the Earth...
