Kadri went flying at least 3 times courtesy of Gio. I'd buy he has a lower body injury. When you land on your ass on the ice that much, your tailbone can get very sore. Hockey pants don't have padding right there. So yeah, literally butt-hurt. I'm sticking with that theory.

Can we at least stop harping on the amount that fines end up being? It was collectively bargained and can't go any higher.

Repeat offender, suspended within last 18 months.
Repeat throat slash offender, 2010 World Juniors.
Footage caught live on an identical broadcast in two markets, and picked up by national media.
Gesture combined with clear lip reading of "you're ####ing dead. You're dead."
Precedent for suspension already established.

No suspension! And no surprise.

Closest I could think of was the Stars turfing Avery after he served his suspension for the sloppy seconds comment, but I don't think it meets what you were looking for so I deleted my post above.

Not sure if Mike Richard's contract termination applies either. I think you were looking for something less serious?

I think Kadri embarrassing himself by trying to get back at Gio all night was punishment enough.

Why would the league have any cause to suspend those three? You missed the point. They don't say hi, they look at you confused and flip you off.

I have no problem with him getting fined. Isn't 5k there max allowable? At any rate, I just wish the NHL had constituency.

Kadri should have been suspended for one game...but...he plays for the Leafs...and it was against the Flames...so he got what we all pretty much expected.

I think you mean consistency, but close enough.

Here's the act. Here's the punishment.

Try it - it really ins't that hard.

(I don't care what the punishment is: suspension, fine, nothing. Just pick one and stick with it!)
In theory that could work, but how would they play favorites based off who the player is and what team they are on?

At risk of exposing a tin foil hat as per Friedman, wouldn't be surprised if the Leafs (Shanahan) pulled in a favor, told the league to just fine him, and the team would internally suspend Kadri for a game.

Saves the league and the Leafs from the extra attention of announcing a suspension, for whatever that's worth, and Kadri doesn't lose a game cheque.
