VdV wasting too much possession trying to shoot from everywhere. That cant possibly have been Harry's game plan. You're rarely going to score on anyone from 35+ yards out.

That was just a dismantling. No midfield cover and the defence was easily torn apart.

2-0. Thats probably that.

He knows that my Fantasy team needs a couple of goals

And I agree re: Rooney. He looks like a total Muppet with that haircut.

Well, he just did it again. Oh, and again. This is working well.

The top 4 for Spurs is a pipe dream with defending like that. Giggs sends a lazy chip out front and not one of Spurs' 4 defenders even left their feet. The didnt even pretend that they were about to.

Free header for Wayne Rooney. 3-0.

I dont think so. He pulled back and he had every right to go for that.

I think the yellow was good enough.

Think the broadcast crew had it right. Tottenham really looked deflated after that wasted opportunity when VdV was wide open. Up till that point, I thought Spurs looked to be controlling the game but you can't miss opportunities at OT.

yep team definitely was dejected after that. Would have been a tap in.

Not really worried about the scoreline, they played with Man U for 70 minutes at OT with the 6th and 7th choices playing CM

a trip to OT was never expected to bring in any points

Man City is a bigger test

Harry says Spurs are going to offer Luka a new contract....

and no Crouchy even on the bench for the 2nd straight game makes me think his move is imminent

F'n kids...

United rolling out with an average age of 23 years 191 days (according to Yahoo UK) with Evra bringing up the average at age 30.

Nani and Young wide are going to cause a lot of problems for a lot of teams this year.

Outside of Bale, not a single Spurs player had a good game. BAE had one of his trademark giveaways in his own end that leads to a goal. Defoe was useless as usual. Van der Vaart was dreadful, and Lennon looked completely lost. Krancjar was pretty weak as well.

What a surprise - Nasri to City.

I think they are desperate for trophies this year because the hammer is coming down. I am just hoping for a few bad results for the egos and massive in-fighting to commence. The meltdown would be oh so glorious. It is going to suck watching these guys win anything

Alright, whats good in the news today?

Nasri to City pending medical and personal terms. Rumour is they've doubled his wages, so something like £180,000/week. Something only City could afford.

Quote:
'The 24-year-old midfielder, who has spent three years with the Gunners, has been omitted from Arsenal's squad which flies to Udinese this afternoon and instead will travel north for a medical.

'The move will be subject to Nasri passing a medical and formal registration processes.'

Speaking of overpaid insanity: Russia.

Quote:
Samuel Eto’o will become the world’s top-earning footballer on Monday when he completes his staggering move from Inter Milan to Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala.

The Cameroonian’s agent claims the £22million deal will be completed imminently, with Eto’o set to pocket an astonishing £18millon per year in wages, amounting to roughly £350,000 each week.

Juan Mata to Chelsea.

Quote:
Juan Mata admitted it was easy to turn down Arsenal and Tottenham as the pair cannot compete with Chelsea.

Spurs were close to signing Mata this summer and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was heavily linked with a move but the Valencia winger is set to seal a £29million switch to Stamford Bridge.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp claims Mata is only joining the Blues for the money but the player said: 'I want to come to England to win trophies - and that's why I accepted Chelsea's offer.

'It was a question of sporting achievement, not money. Arsenal and Tottenham were both interested in me but they did not compare with the Blues.

'I want the Premier League title and this is possible at Chelsea.'

And Modric:

Quote:
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes chairman Daniel Levy needs to have face-to-face discussions with wantaway Luka Modric before the player will focus back on his football again.

''The chairman has to sit down and have a chat with him,'' he said. ''They probably fell out a little bit over that first meeting.

''If they can have a meeting and resolve the whole situation and Daniel tells him we need him, he is important and that we are ambitious and will bring one or two players in, you might find the boy will be okay.

''If someone offered to treble anyone's wages, they would find it difficult, wherever they worked. That is the situation the boy is in. If someone offers £150,000 a week rather than £50,000, you are going to have your head turned.

''Some players can handle it. I know players who have caused havoc in the dressing room in order to get a move. I have seen it so many times. But he wouldn't cause anyone a problem. Let's be truthful. He wanted to go, but he has just got confused with it all.''

''The chairman has also said he will look at his contract in a month or two. He told me he would do that.''

I'm sorry, that whole article about Modric just sounds so condescending. He keeps calling him a confused little boy who needs a sit down.

I'm sure it had nothing to do with the extra 40k a week Chelsea offered that Spurs and Arsenal didn't

The Modric article should sound condescending, and what it's likely going to end up with is him getting an extra 15-20k a week

I didn't think he was outstanding but thought he was the only player who showed up. Had a few nice runs and was the only guy setting up anything. I still can't believe Defoe cracked the post on a wide open net. He needs to be sold ASAP.
