Bump. My plan has expired and I'm now month to month.
Are there any good plans out there now? Currently with Rogers, but willing to look elsewhere. Mainly in Calgary but we do travel to the Kelowna area and around Edson...

You'll have to let us know what you current pay and for what.
Minutes (local/Canada wide?) , data, caller ID, voice mail, if there are any add ons you want.

Was $60 per month per phone on a somewhat grandfathered plan.
- 1GB data
- caller id and vm
- 500min canada wide long distance
- Rogers to Rogers calling
- unlimited local calls, 6pm to 6am
- unlimited text
Would like similar plan, since Rogers has removed credits on account and now its closer to $80 or 90 per month

Koodo.ca has on their page a plan for $62/month. Unlimited minutes, caller id and vm, 2.5GB data, unlimited text. That's right in your $60/month range.
Take your phone over there and it's 10% off that plan, so $55.80+taxes.
If you're ok with 1GB, it's $52/month (-10% if you take your own phone over there).

I have virgin plan
500 minutes
Unlimited incoming
Unlimited long d
Unlimited text
1 gig data
Caller id/VM
$45
Not too bad of a plan but I'm looking for something in the 3 gig range and possibly data share with ipad or something
The Rogers share plan isn't too bad and neither is the koodoo one.

I'm with Telus, although it's not on their site as I negotiated it.
I'm paying $60/mth and I'm getting:
1000 anytime nationwide minutes
Unlimited nationwide evening and weekends
Unlimited international texting, including video and picture messaging
1GB of data
Caller ID and Voicemail 3
They also gave me a $10 credit for 6 months because I had to upgrade early and had to buy out my phone, so they are essentially refunding me that cost. So it's actually $50/mth for the next few months still.
And they gave me the Nexus 4 for free.
I used one of the Virgin plans as a tool to start the negotiating, and although they couldn't go toe to toe with Virgin, they did their best to oblige to my requests.

I am on Virgin's "Silver 60" plan and getting the following (don't ask me what "mypeeps" is. I still have no idea how it applies to my plan, since it comes with unlimited outgoing and incoming calling).
10% off Silver 60 2GB
Txt & Pic msg to Can & US
Unlimited International text
Standard LD Rate (to U.S. & CAN)
Call Display
myPeeps
Smartphone Data - 2 GB
Unlimited anytime minutes
Voicemail 3
Canada-Wide Calling
Unlimited Incoming Text
Pay per use Voice - U.S. Roaming
$54.00/mo.
It looks like that plan is no longer offered, but they have introduced a $62 plan with 2.5gb of data.

OK, I spoke to Rogers retentions today, wanted to know what you thought...
This is for both the wifes and my phone...
- 2GB shared between 2 phones
- unlimited CAN wide calling (incoming and outgoing)
- unlimited CAN wide pic/video/text (incoming and outgoing)
- Voicemail/caller ID
- receive international calls free (make outgoing at unknown rate)
- $60 credit from last months bill due to more credits not being applied
- this is offered as an existing plan, no credits applied and removed, everything documented at Rogers, emailed and texted to me for confirmation.
- MONTH TO MONTH if I choose to not get new phones, 2yr term if I do
$105/month all in with existing phones, month to month ($50 per + tx)
$147/month all in for new phones, 2yr term ($70 per + tax)
We are leaning towards the cheaper option as I don't need a new phone, wife seems to be happy with hers for now... $480 over 2 years can buy a phone off of kijiji whenever we do want it... Coverage seems to be a big thing as we are travellers to the Edson/Drayton Valley area quite a bit.
Thoughts?
Is there anything else I'm missing?
I was thinking of asking to have my wifes iphone unlocked too.

When you say all in, does the include tax? I know some people tend to do that.
Also, if the difference between both being on month to month and getting on a 2 year contract is $42 per month, that's $1,008 that you're saving roughly for those 2 lines. Certainly a reasonable amount depending on what kind of devices you plan to buy down the road. Or save for other stuff.
What they've given you is slightly better than what the average person who comes as a new customer can get given the same situation that they have 2 phones they're bringing in themselves.
$70+$40 (2nd line add on)
- 2GB shared between 2 phones
- unlimited CDN wide calling (incoming and outgoing)
- unlimited CDN wide pic/video/text (incoming and outgoing)
- Voicemail/caller ID
No idea what more Rogers could possibly give you since this is bit of unknown territory with the new plans.

Yes, all in is with tax.
Seems ok, but not great, but I'm leery. Rogers hasnt done too well in the customer service department for a ~18year customer, so I'm trying to figure out how to squeeze a little more.
The month to month is intriguing to me though. I like that a lot.

All you need to do is point out how long you've been a customer and flat out say you're going somewhere else if they don't offer a significantly better deal.
You're getting ripped off. Anyone that pays $65 for anything less than unlimited data, messaging and 500 min is getting ripped off.
I pay $65 per month for unlimited data(amounts to 15gb before you get throttled), unlimited texting in NA, unlimited local minutes, and all the other bells and whistles like voicemail and caller ID. And this is on MTS, a local carrier.
Which means a big carrier like Rogers can afford to offer better deals.

Thanks Azure. I guess its OK compared to a new plan, or whats out there now, but you're right, as a long term customer with multiple issues on my last term, I am expecting more.
EDIT- That price is for 2 phones.

I just signed on with koodoo
$56 ($60 normally but I have my own phone so 10% discount)
2.5 GB data
Unlimited calling Canada
Unlimited text
And other random stuff
I think you can do better being a long term customer than a new sign up

In that case it's decent as it's about $10 less than the 'average joe' the scenario I mentioned.

Assuming ricosuave is not in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, or Quebec he's short out of luck like the most of us. Can Rogers afford to give him an amazing deal like yours? Of course! Will they? Nope. Not unless he lives in one of those aforementioned provinces.

I'd imagine the usual caller ID, voice mail whatnot. Not that there's much more than that.

Well, $100 for 2 phones is decent enough if they throw in new phones. I find it bizarre that they wouldn't do that for a customer of 18 years.
Do carriers even understand how customer retention and service works?
If you were my customer of 18 years, I would instantly offer you free brand new phones, plus 3 months free service and double everything you're currently getting.
Just unreal.

The point is that if small carriers can offer great plans like that, big carriers can too.
But good point on those 3 provinces. They are the only 3 provinces in Canada where competition exists. And the only 3 provinces in Canada where you can actually get a great cell phone plan.

I dunno. Rogers did absolutely nothing for me, and I had been with them for over 10 years. Didn't seem to care one bit when I canceled with them.
