Yeah I was going to say with Blizzard you can still incorporate a Yeti in the logo and use that as your mascot.

The Avs had a Bigfoot shoulder patch and IIRC they had a Yeti mascot at one point.

I really hope that a different name gets considered. There is an official state mammal for Utah, the Wapiti, also known as the Elk. Having Elk as a team nickname could lead to the 2nd most annoying goal horn in the league (replacing the, now inactive, coyote howl), a screaming Elk call! Why only 2nd most annoying? Well, there is none worse that the deafening cannon blast in Columbus.

Dishonorable mention: Howler the Yeti (Colorado Avalanche)
Howler the Yeti was the first mascot for the Avalanche following their move to Colorado, and he was a giant Yeti that was ... kind of cool looking. He was ultimately retired though after he was involved in a “fracas” in the stands of the McNichols Sports Arena in 1999 that left a Chicago Blackhawks fan injured. Both the fan and Howler were ticketed for disturbing the peace. The Avalanche eventually replaced him with Bernie the St. Bernard.

They dropped the footprint shoulder patch in 2015.

LOL, I can just imagine Flames was actually named Rednecks and then years later, there is the Roughnecks. This city can't kick that stigma especially when the Flaming C is replaced by the stupid Blasty fire bleeding horse as the logo!

Yup, that's my vote - Salt Lake City Salt Lickers The logo is easy too - a long steer with it's tongue out to one side licking its nostril. And beside the bull, there's that blue salt lick block with a dimple!

Apparently utahraptors are one of the only raptors that are as large as the ones depicted in Jurassic Park. The rest are just little chickens.

Utahraptor gained fame by starring in Jurassic Park. No you say, it was Velociraptor. Indeed, moviemaker Steven Spielberg used the name Velociraptor in his movies. However, in reality, Velociraptors are less than half the size of the dinosaurs depicted in Jurassic Park. Utahraptor was found the year that Jurassic Park came out and gave scientific credence to the large-sized raptors in the movies. It’s just that they are really Utahraptors not Velociraptors!

I don't like the Raptor name. If they went with something like Utah Ice Raptors it would be fine but Raptors is already taken and I don't like to see names reused among franchises (even when they aren't in the same sport).
Ice Raptors could potentially make for an awesome logo if done properly though.
In essence, I just want to see something that is unique and not generic. The NHL needs more flavour, Utah has the chance to do so. You can stay simple and still be effective (Knights logo is simple but awesome) or you can try and be different and turn out to be a disappointment (sorry Arizona). Find that sweet spot in between simple and different!!
