They aren't currently worse than San Jose. San Jose cannot even beat Chicago, I doubt they could even beat themselves.

Besides being wrong about the Flames, the worse team isn't anywhere close to being guaranteed the first pick.
Plus Calgary had a sizable lead already over the bottom feeders.

Let's say we draft top 10 this year, what pick does Montreal get?

We can’t either 😂
We get to find out who’s worse in April when we play them twice.
It’s certainly time to maximize opportunities for the youngsters. Any vet with a broken fingernail should take a game or two off. Maximize ice time for developing players.

That would have no impact on MTL
They can choose to take this year's pick, if it is between 22-32 (it will not be)
So it is up to events next year.

Two questions,
a) Do they have the option at our newly acquired Vancouver pick this year?
b) It seems we may suck next year, what if we have another top 10 pick? Then what pick they taking, Floridas?

a) no
b) if our pick is top 10 next year, they get FLA's. If our pick is not top 10, they get the better pick.
That is why many of us continue to argue that the Flames need to really suck next year, because they are not going to finish higher than FLA. I think it is safe to say that Conroy understands this, though the Flames will never admit publicly that tehy are trying to finish bottom 10.

Nope. Montreal could trade the conditional Flames they have but don't see much incentive for them to do so in a weaker draft even if they think they are getting Florida's pick.
Montreal will get Florida's pick as long as the Flames finish bottom then and the Panthers make playoffs. Worst case scenario is that Montreal can get up to a 2nd overall pick in 25 but the most likely worst case scenario is that the Flames finish 11th and Montreal gets that pick.

Blame Treliving. He signed Markstrom. He signed Tanev. He signed Kadri. He acquired and signed Weegar. Etc. Etc.
The guy should have sent everyone out for 2025 picks last year. Then we would be terrible enough.

Edmonton wasn’t the worst team in the league when they got McDavid.

Yeah, the Sharks are some kind of bad this year. In a lock out year where teams only played 48 games, the worst team had 37 points. The worst point total in a season in the last quarter century is the Aves, where they 48. Even the Oilers managed to get to 60 points in their dumpster fire years. SJ is sitting at 40 points.

With Arizonas win, Flames are 4 points up on 5th overall pick. Picking 5th - 8th seems more and more likely.

The Flames currently have a 12.4% chance of picking 1st, 2nd, or 3rd through a lottery win. The only way to pick 3rd (0.2% chance) is to finish 12th/13th and win the lotteries.
Including these lottery odd's, the Flames' average pick is 7.6th overall.

Montreal Arizona, and Ottawa all on winning streaks. Flames lose five in a row.... It's happening.
