Good, you need 9-10 defensemen during a long cup run.

Looked really good when the Silver Knights played the Wranglers last season.

There was some chatter that a Tanev deal could come after the all star break. Which makes sense given injury risks.
And the reality is the Flames don't have a lot of bodies on the blueline, and will need some guys to fill in.

Maybe another Greer-like claim for Conroy. Sounds like just what the back end needs right now.

At minimum we may have entered the hold Tanev out of the lineup before he kills himself phase even if a trade per se is not imminent in next 72 hrs?

Big strong, right shot, increases physicality. Sounds like the perfect partner for OK
He also had a pretty sweet first NHL goal this year.

Yeah, it's that time of year when things like this are definitely indicators other things are happening. Waiver claims don't go to the farm.
I bet Tanev is dealt before the day is out.

I like it. I was wrong about the Greer claim and I trust the scouts' judgement ... let's hope they found another good one here.
Have to think a Tanev trade is close, hopefully. Don't want to risk an injury there.

This gives the Flames 8 healthy d-men. With Tanev and/or Hanifin likely moving within the next 4 weeks, I could see them just rolling with these 8 rather than risking putting Oesterle on waivers.
