I don't have any experience drilling wells, but isn't there a strong likelihood to find ground water or an aquifer almost anywhere if you just dig? Or magma... or Balrogs...

Don't know, that's the only experience I ever had with it.

I watched that and wondered how the hell did they stretch that into 2 hours with no commercials. That could have been a tight 30 minute episode.

I am going to try to forget about the show and then just watch the season finale. Anything of interest found will be recapped then.
The island isn’t that big, and they are dealing with the booby traps of people from the 18th century. How long can it possibly take to fully explore the money pit?

At least seven seasons, apparently.

The whole thing reminds me of the Radioactive Man episode of the Simpsons. All of these locals taking advantage of the Hollywood (History Channel) big-shots. I can only imagine the progress they should have made in 7 years. The locals meanwhile are like, “hey! over here in the middle of nowhere of relevance, we found something! let’s explore it for a few months”

It's basically perfect timing for those advances. The end of the season is near, so they'll appear to be making progress and have that great end of the year cliffhanger. I'll be watching!

I don’t think it’s too hard to reconcile. They are salting the island. If they ever got to the point where they actually discovered there was nothing really there, that puts a stop to everything. No more tourism or TV or enigma. They are just milking the Lagina’s dry. It would be exciting if there was something there, but it just looks a scam now.

Yeah that's could be. But the Laginas also get a TV funded treasure hunt out of the deal, so it's not that much of a scam.

In the preview for next week they mention the hurricane that hit Nova Scotia last year (Dorian I think). That happened on Sept 8th last year, so I figure they have just over a month before they have to shut things down for the season. Depending on what Dorian did to Oak island, may determine what more they can do (ie. damages the crane or the wall).

I still watch this show, what's not to love? There are cranes and bulldozers and excavators - it's basically a mashup of Blue's Clues and Bob the Builder for grown-ups.
