McDavid was flying 2A, 24:10 TOI.
Strome had strong 3rd and was 8-4 in the circle.
Yamamoto 15:51 TOI, 3:23 on Pk will be in line-up Vs CAL

That's the only thing that bugs me. I don't think McLellan is that great a coach...having followed him in SJ. Him and Bylsma have just had the luck of having great players on their roster....who eventually got sick of their coach so he got fired.
Bylsma had Crosby, Malkin, Letang, MAF etc.
McLellan had Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski, Couture, Burns etc.
You will often see him ride McDavid 22-24 min (for a FWD) a night in tight games or against tougher opponents. McDavid winning the Art Ross and then the Hart also has a lot to do with how much he plays.... Imagine if Crosby got that much ice time...He is/Oilers are amazingly lucky that they are able to do that. He hides so many of their deficiencies because he's on the ice so much.
If McDavid got hurt, the Oilers are literally a lottery ball team. Now ...they also paid a guy $8.5m to play alongside McDavid as Draisaitl having doesn't have his own line anymore apparentlly.

Why was McDavid playing 24 minutes in a preseason game?

Because 'Coach of the Year' candidate Todd McAwesome understands that hes got a 2 man team.
McDavid plays all the minutes and Talbot plays all the games. Its really their only chance.

I think even he played 27 mins in one game, McLellan rides his stars like no other, there's a reason guys like Thornton and Marleau ran out of gas or didn't have another gear in the playoffs under him.

Practice as you mean to play, I guess.... It is the preseason championship after all.

Yes.
I like to pray that McDavid loses interest in hockey and retires.

McDavid has had major injuries that have knocked him out for huge chunks of two of the last three seasons. It would not be surprising for it to happen again.

Since he only played 2 seasons I'm confused!!
His rookie year he lost 37 games to injury, last year he didn't miss a game

McDavid missed 6 weeks during his last season in junior after breaking his hand in a fight. While I don't think a fight and a freak accident prove McDavid is injury prone I do believe his style of play combined with big minutes will result in his body breaking down faster than the average player.
The risk of McDavid breaking down makes the decision to play him 24 minutes in the preseason incredibly stupid. Roll 4 lines and save McDavid to play big minutes in divisional games and the playoffs.

I know it's evil but I really hope that when the oil play the ducks, someone lays out McDavid with a big clean hit that sidelines him for a while and then someone from the oilers retaliates and takes out someone like Getz or Perry from the ducks....

I hope he meets the love of his life and gets married.
So many athletes seem to lose a gear after settling down.
Bonus points if she makes him move.

How about we just hope for the team to have no success and not wish for something untoward to happen to McDavid?

That you hope for it to negatively impact his game, yes.
It will be more satisfying if the Oilers have no success despite McDavid at the height of his game.
I won't shed a tear if his game drops off for whatever reason but to hope for it is poor sportsmanship IMO.

I never states I hoped it to negatively impact his game, although that could be extrapolated fairly enough. It was a somewhat humorous comment in response to more outlandish mal wishing.
Do you feel better now having claimed the moral high ground and played hallway monitor?

Yeah, and my comment was mostly toward people wishing he gets mono or musing about his injury history with the obvious implication being they would relish a long absence from McDavid.
Do whatever you want. I just think as a fan base we don't have to stoop to that level. There is endless material for this thread without that stuff. Just my opinion of course.
