Oiler fans are like prisoners who've just been released from 11 years of Ad Seg to Gen Pop and are now running around "We're free! We're free!!"

No you're not. You're still in prison and with no chance of parole for another 9 years!

Nevermind the geezers. I'm sure they'll tucker themselves out before they even get to reminiscing about the good old days of the Golden Girls, Matlock, and M*A*S*H.

MASH is one of the greatest shows ever. You should watch it.

The REALLY sad thing is all the Seinfeld references going over my babysitters heads. Sad times indeed.

I will never harbour any affections for that show by virtue of the fact that I was an 80's child and had to sit through it every weeknight when it was mom and dad's turn to choose what to watch on TV.

Bah, hogwash. Still one of the greatest shows ever made.

"What say you ferret face?" Is one of the greatest lines in the annals of TV.

I don't dispute (or even have an opinion on) the quality of the program itself. All I'm saying is that it's right up there with Coronation Street on the list of shows I irrationally dislike because they were boring grownup stuff I didn't see the entertainment value in, when I could have been watching cartoons, Star Trek TNG, or a rerun of the Simpsons I had already memorized line for line.

Also, E=NG.

Points for the Coronation Street reference. People in the U.S. often wonder why Canadians know so much about British culture, and then I explain how the CBC is just a puppet organization for a bunch of BBC shows with some weak Canadian content thrown in.

I pretty much had your experience growing up, but I always appreciated the exposure to more adult shows back then. I feel like it helped me to mature faster in some small way. I learned a lot about the absurdity of war and especially the Korean conflict, which doesn't get much attention in the grand scheme of things.

Also, Edmonton is no good.
