Worth going to once.

We went last Saturday. Had the tasting menu as well. Not as good as the first time last October. However, the tuna crudo, rabbit, and cheesecake were all on point. Really solid.
However, I maybe forgiving after returning from Vancouver and dropping the same amount at Le Crocadile and being super unimpressed. In a city of overhyped bad restaurants it took the cake. Deane and Rouge are light years ahead.

Oh I think she is an amazing business woman. I totally get the business upside of gong he fast food/catering route as well, but I'd expect that food to be top
Notch. Cluck N Clever is pretty blah. Pretty standard stuff that benefits from the top chef name. I can name 2 or 3 better Korean fried chicken places in this city as well as a couple restaurants that serve a better fried bird. I honestly think Popeye's is pretty close to on par, and when considering price, I'd probably go with Chicken On the Way given its half the cost. I just have a hard time understanding how she does so well in these tv comps with supposedly the best chefs in Canada when her local business are so pedestrian.
Just because you go fast food, doesn't mean it has to be mediocre. Look at Bobby Flay's Burger place. 10-15 dollar price point and it's a must stop for me anytime I'm in Vegas. I'd rank it well ahead of Gordon Ramsay's Burgr which is probably three times the price.

I went to Deane house a few weeks ago, and everything was excellent...from the service to the food to the setting. The fact that it was one of those perfect Calgary summer evenings, and we were seated on the patio, sure didn't hurt.

Went to Ox Bar de Tapas last night (formerly Ox& Angela). We enjoyed it quite a bit. Portion sizes were decent overall, the Patatas bravas were huge, could serve 4 easily. One of the only places that serves Crema Catalana in the city, and they did it well.
Only small downside was our server wasn't the most knowledgeable, when she told us about the desserts, she didn't tell us it was Crema Catalana, she called it "somewhat like a creme caramel", didn't tell us the proper name. We ordered it, figuring it was a flan and were pleasantly surprised when Crema Catalana came out. When we explained to her that her description wasn't correct, she was very confused, I guess she doesn't know what a creme caramel is? A large group came in just as we finished eating and we got a bit ignored right at the end of our meal and had to flag down folks to pay. Crazy loud in there too. Despite this, I'd go back again. Great gin selection.

Ya, Selkirk has an awesome patio and outdoor dining area.
And I get that Bavarian Inn is in Bragg creek, but their patio just faces a gravel parking lot without much to look at. Still, better than most city patios I guess and a great restaurant overall.

Is Ox Bar de Tapas all big, long tables now? I saw a few photos / descriptions and it sounded like that was the case. When I go out to dinner, I want my own table, not sitting next to a bunch of strangers.

No, there are quite a few single tables - I think there may be a bench seat against one wall, but the tables were separated. There was one long table in the middle that sat about 8, I think, we sat at a round table just behind it.

Visited Workshop again - terrific. Particularly recommend the braised lamb pasta appetizer and the pork loin/pork belly main.
BTW maybe we need a wine thread, so this is off topic, but Costco has some fantastic deals on very high end stuff if wine is your thing.

Workshop is one of my favourite restaurants. We always get the improv dinner though. I don't think I've ordered off the menu yet!

Just had a late lunch at Ogam off Macleod. Crispy Chicken Bites. Man, they are good... albeit pricey at $14 for a little box. Probably the best chicken "tenders" I have had.

Had another great evening at Fleur De Sel last month. Dale is our favorite waiter in town. He knows what to bring out to compliment your meal.

Does anybody have any suggestions for a good tasting menu?
Ive had the tasting menu at Alloy and loved it. To be honest that was my first venture into fancy food so im at a bit of a loss. Ive heard Model Milk was good.

It might be better if the divided the city up a bit I am sure there are good restaurants outside of a 5 min car ride from the Calgary Tower.
