Hey, that link doesn't work.
This could be a very fun signing...

Copy the link and replace the hashtags with "0ilersnation."
*EDIT* ... except replace the "0" with an "o."

So, to summarise: "How dare Draisaitl ask for a contract based on a comparison with Evgeni Malkin! I mean, he is probably just as good as Malkin, but the nerve of him thinking he might be."
Oilers fans would be aghast to learn that if Draisaitl's camp was indeed using Malkin as an appropriate RFA comparison his price point would be much closer to $12.0 m, and not $9.0–10 m.

Terry Jones is reporting that McDavid's contract announcement will be made tomorrow.

For some reason, Oilers fans are still making guesses as to what the cap hit and term will be.

Ha best part of that article is the side poll on how well their GM has done this off season. Note option (D) just needs the letter t removed.
Quote:
How would you grade Peter Chiarelli’s summer so far?
A - Beyond what I expected
. . . 3%, 25 VOTES
B - Good but there's still work to do.
. . . 33%, 289 VOTES
C - Meh. It was alright.
. . . 35%, 312 VOTES
D - It's not good. Not good.
. . . 26%, 230 VOTES
F - Complete failure.
. . . 4%, 33 VOTES
Total Votes: 889

They should have waited on that poll until after the signed Draisaitl, because that will probably be the last major move of the summer until the trade deadline when they start selling assets.
If they sign Draisaitl to a 9 million 5 year bridge. And McDavid to a 13.25 deal at 8 years. I would argue that their off season is a serious disaster because not only is that team weaker right now, but its cap doomed going forward.

I wouldn't characterize a 9x5 as a bridge.

Man. Only two full seasons and not even a PPG with arguably the best player in the world. And we're talking $9 million? Sheesh.

honestly, if i were McPhee, i'd take a run at him on a 9x6 contract... I mean why not?
LV has a ton of picks.
LV has zero stars of that caliber
LV can fit that salary in long term
2 firsts a second and a third? That don't seems that bad, especially with all the picks LV has accrued as a result of the Expansion draft.

I think 10.8 million a year for RFA purposes is 4 1st round picks.
Also, I don't want the Oilers to have Vegas's 4 first round picks.

One reason, as has been stated previously with regard to offer sheets, total dollar value of the offer sheet is divided by 5 years (if longer term is offered). So in your example 54/5 = 10.8M, so would be 4 first round picks.
9.5x5 years would still be 2 firsts, 2nd and 3rd

They hit 1 out of 4 on First Overall Picks, are you really worried about 4 first round picks? Plus Oilers would match any ways.

Nah, Vegas will get a player as good or better than Draisaitl through the draft. Their picks will be lottery picks for years. They need to build and develop for a few years than swing for the fences with a RFA offersheet right now when half the contract will be done before they're competitive.

This is just precious. Edmonton spent three years developing a new brand for the city, and they came up with "EDMONTON" in all caps with a small maple leaf at the end.

As though they saw our shoulder patches and went "hold my beer".
No. Good.

Love how tiny the maple leaf is at the end too. Should be a Beaverton story but its true.

I do believe the maple leaf is meant to be used as a period for some strange reason.

What the hell? It is literally this:
They didn't even attempt to do anything remotely creative with the font.

After 4 years of debate #yegcc has settled on a brand and will go with "Edmonton". Other cities are expected to re-brand as "Not Edmonton"
