Surprised to see people taking Methot over Ryan.
He was great in the playoffs and I feel like his high end is higher than any other forward available to the Knights to pick.

Ryan has a cap hit of 5 more years @7.25 mil. Would give most people pause to take him on, even with his playoff performance.

Top 4 dmen with reasonable cap hits are worth a lot more in trade than 7+ million dollar wingers. I think Vegas may see Methot as the more valuable trade chip. I think a lot of fans are assuming Vegas keeps a lot of these players whereas I think they may deal half of them before the season

I ended up in the Juolevi thread on the other forum and it was some great fun reading through the comments about how their GM messed up that draft letting Tkachuk slide to the Flames. Good stuff!

It was just something funny on saw on twitter. Which is why I even said you could substitute Canucks for a bunch of other teams. Just a fun jab at the Canucks, FDW!

Help, save, whatever.

Hey, the Leafs protected Leivo ? Huh. Happily surprised. That guy puts up a lot of points whenever he is called up but for some reason they would never let him stay with the Leafs. If they are protecting him I guess that means they actually plan on playing him next year.

Maybe there should be something like this every year for teams that miss playoffs and then radically change entry draft rules.

I can't believe I was just mocked by someone who then proposed a yearly fantasy-style parity draft.

This process has been sort of fun to watch unfold, but I think that's largely because we haven't had to worry about losing anyone significant. We can just sit back and watch the Anaheims of the world scramble to protect assets. It would probably be a different story for us if it happened again in 3-5 ish years. Once is enough for me!

Until Vegas makes their picks and make public any pre-arranged deals, I think we have to take these lists with a grain of salt. They may or may not indicate which players are available.
As for the Flames, unless, they surprise us and announce a pre-arranged deal, which i doubt, it's gone exactly as most of us had envisioned. I don't think Vegas takes one of our older players or a player approaching UFA, it's just not a good use of an asset. I think it's Kulak, Shinkaruk or Poirier.

With Shinkaruk needing waivers and Poirier being a total wildcard considering his recent personal issues, Kulak is the only one on there that makes sense to me.
If Kulak needs waivers next year (does he?) I would actually start to hope they pick up Brouwer.

I'm really starting to think they take Brouwer simply because he's the BPA from the Flames. They're going to have access to better defensemen than Kulak, and Brouwer does fill a leadership role.
I can dream, anyway.

Actually the way they designed the expansion draft rules (i.e. 3 years of pro experience to be eligible) and the CBA rules regarding waivers, I believe that all the exposed forwards and d-men require waivers next year.
There are however exposed goalies who do not need waivers and this is because the CBA gives goalies an additional year than skaters before they are waiver eligible.
But to answer your question Kulak needs waivers.

Strange Brew is one of my favorite posters on this forum. That said yeah, he was pretty asinine on this one
Pepsi calling it a "a horror" is certainly over the top and what triggered the response however unwarranted. Weirdly enough it is this snarkiness and personalities that makes CP my preferred forum. When they bicker with each other it is mildly amusing. When they turn on some troll united it is a thing of beauty.
When you read these two and the rest turn on an Oil or Nuck Troll or other know nothing - it is so much fun to read.
