Taking a while to get to 5000

I was happy with the signing and excited to have him on the team. Now that the season is over....yes...crticism is warranted.

But... but... the intangibles! The leadership, willingness to criticize teammates who are not producing...

They were both on waivers. One was picked off the wire and the other was not.

What will we have to give Vegas to take him?

I noticed on one shot Brouwer was screening Gibson but moved out of the way to the right of Gibson at the last second Gibson got a clear view of the shot. Couldn't understand why Brouwer didn't keep screening or attempt to at least tip the puck.

The Flames will have to sweeten the pot for Vegas to take Brouwer.

But he won't. He clearly knows he's got his retirement contract and has mailed it in say hello to 4th liner Troy Brouwer

And that sucks because now our fourth line costs over 10 million.

Oh hell yes he deserves every bit of criticism he gets at this point.
Real question is does he get another chance or does BT rectify this mistake somehow after one season?

Yep, I waited all playoffs for the heart to show, Nada. I defended him all season and have nothing to show for it. If Brouwers on the roster next year, he better pick it up.
I will say this, he stirred the drink for the first ten games while the rest of the team was still sleeping. That's all I got.

Brouwer was a bad signing the day it was made, yet people were so stubborn to reject that a "stupid hero chart" could be smarter than our saviour Brad Treliving that they drank the kool-aid all year. Why people think a player will play better in more difficult situations than he plays in easy situations never made sense.
Enoch Root, gonna call you out here buddy because although you're otherwise one of my favourite posters as you usually have good visual observations, but you were well on this guy's bandwager. I believe you have some crow to eat.

Not Raymond level bad signing but certainly looking like one we will regret.
He has some tangibles but is not playing to potential. He was more noticable in the playoffs but did not pan out on scoresheet. Took some crucial draws.
10% chance LV takes him. Stajan is 50% only because it is a one year deal.
Shinkaruk 10% and Kulak 30%.

Never liked the signing from day one. One good playoff series last does not make anyone a warrior or beast in the post season. Imagine what his salary could be used towards a real top line forward or goalie. Now we are stuck with this albatross of a contract just as Widemans is off the books. At least Wideman was serviceable for a majority of his contract.
Take for instance a guy like Versteeg. You saw him trying to create havoc during faceoffs. Pushing, shoving and Chirping guys to get them off their game. Engaging in every way possible. All this for a million a year. Brouwer did none of that.
Get that A off his chest and give it to Backlund.

I was happy with the signing.
I was okay with the money.
I accepted his poor start.
I forgave him his disappointing season.
I expected to see the real Troy in the playoffs.
But now I'm all out of credits for Mr. Brouwer.

What's with all the comparisons to David Jones? David Jones scored a big goal for us against the Canucks in Game 1 two years ago. Brouwer didn't do that.
It's ironic that a year ago we were talking about maybe trading with Vegas so they agree NOT to take someone off our roster. Now we can't ship Brouwer to Vegas fast enough.
