Wideman with salary retained could have brought in a high return had he caught fire in January.
Instead it's gone the other direction.
In addition, fear of the Wideman factor will affect teams' interest in acquiring him for a playoff run.
I still think he gets moved, but it's for a low pick or conditional pick at this point.

I'm in the camp that he had to stay the rest of the year; no movement will be made on him as he is void of value or interest to any other team. Just something we're going to have to bite the bullet on and roll as smoothly as we can until the end of this hockey year.

Well, it would certainly cement the Flames as most penalized team in the league if Gudas was brought on board.

Absolutely. We'd also have a player that has no issue standing up for his teammates (Johnny's constant slashes). We're lacking that right now.

Isn't that why we have Engelland ? Gudas is a less disciplined smaller Engs IMO

Not a fan of Gudas. He's a bit of a cheap-shot artist, and he really doesn't need to be at his size. He can punish enough just playing straight up, but he chooses to be dirty.

Gudas > Engelland.
He has better hockey sense and plays with a lot more heart and angst. He's been on my wish list for a while.

Gudas might be a better skater and hockey player, but I don't know how you can question Engelland's heart and angst. Engelland is the definition of a warrior.
