I think it's worth it on the new phones for sure. Given that they seal everything up to keep it watertight, fixing them isn't just a quick trip to a mall kiosk anymore. A cracked glass repair from iPhix is $300 on a 6S. On a 7 they list the price ominously as "please call".

That being said, after paying $1200 for a new iPhone for my wife, I paid the $180 for Apple Care.
Fully agree. I get Apple care for all my devices. Getting a new iPad for $240 because I dropped it versus $1200 that I paid is well worth it.

Why in the hell would anyone get a non-Apple screen replacement at those prices?

Ya, back in the day it was great. You could get a new screen for $60-$100. Now the screens are more advanced and basically glued in there. I know it annoys a lot of people, but I'd rather have a phone that is somewhat waterproof and have AppleCare for the screen replacements.

With the new fancy glass apple uses, are screen protectors needed on the IPhone?

Any recommendations?

I bought a whack of these for my last 2 phones and they've worked really well. Friend of mine used one and spider-webbed her phone screen... turns out it only impacted the protector. Pretty sure they come from China, so put some coffee on because it'll take a while to arrive.

I've used https://www.itunescarddelivery.com/. They email a PDF with the code within about 10 minutes of ordering.

Though I did have one issue. I paid via PayPal, and my PayPal email didn't match the account email I created on their site. So I had a little back and forth convincing them that I wasn't a scammer. So just make sure your details match (if paying via PayPal).

They often have sales and coupons where cards can be bought at par or better. E.g. $50 iTunes card for 50 USD.

Thank you.
Found them at below par @ Costco.com (US).
Again thanks

So I just went to plug in my phone and my the tip of my charging cord was extremely hot. Thankfully it was on the floor and not in contact with my bed sheets as I'm sure it would have set it on fire. Any reason onto why that happened?

Just a note, there is a security update for iOS, seems that any devices with Wi-Fi can be hacked. The update badge didn't show up for me, but when I went to check it showed a new update for the security badge.

Oh yeah, I've never had an iPhone charger that wasn't after a few months. It was seriously so hot you couldn't touch it.

I have several iPhone and iPad chargers and the odd stops working after two or three years (maybe a wire breaks inside over time) but I've never had one fray on me.

The ends on the newer ones seem to fray easier.

My macbook charger, which has never left my home office, is ridiculous frayed that I duct taped it until finally spending over 100 bucks to replace it as the fire hazard was getting too real. Don't know what kind of fantasy world MoneyGuy lives in but I'd love an invite.

Got to love Apple. I called and filed a complaint and I got a phone call back asking me for the serial number so I gave them the serial number off the box but they insist there is a serial number on the cord itself about 6 inches up from the lighting side...I have two chargers, one that came with the phone and the other I bought from the Apple Store which is longer and neither have serial numbers on the cord.

"It can't be an apple product if it doesn't have the serial number on the cord"

Um yes it is and it doesn't have a serial number.

I'm on money guys side of the fence. I still have my iPhone 5s cable and several others. My macbook cable is 3 years old and looks like it did when I first got it. I think some people are just harder on cables.
