Lets keep the anticipation thread spoiler free.

Anyone who's seen the movie can post here and spoilers are fair game and shouldn't need the spoilers tags

My neighbor got us tickets for the 7:15 show tonight. He's over the top excited, a true hardcore fan. Being a casual fan, I keep trolling him with Star Trek references when he tries to talk to me about it.

Just got back! Thought the sets and wardrobe and all that were really cool. A pretty trippy mix of the original style and the prequels. The story I felt was kinda overcomplicated and way too many that-was-convenient's but overall a fun movie and it'll be cool to watch it before Episode IV.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was a tad over complicated but I can understand why they may have needed to do that, since there is so much existing Star Wars history that they had to deal with.

At the end of the day the plot wasn't stupid, the movie was enjoyable and all of the cameos/appearances were very well done. It basically did everything I needed to do. While also dealing with the story parameters that it had to fit within.

Oh and Darth's scene was every bit as ####ing epic as Kevin Smith told me it would be. I could watch that scene on a loop all day.

I have to admit I didn't expect to see Tarkin and Leia.

Great flick - thought the pacing was great, it looked fantastic visually, decent character development. Worked in the odd nostalgic callback much better than TFA. I appreciated the slightly more complicated plot, have felt that Star Wars has gotten a bit too simple and predictable in their plot lines. Saw a few sub 10 year old kids and i can't help but think the ending was a bit dark for youngsters like that.

Where TFA went for a lot of big epic shots (X wings coming in across the water), Rogue One went for busier but more visually interesting shots. Some really good set design, liked seeing some new ships for both the rebellion and the empire.

Really want to see it again soon as I think there is likely a few things I missed on the first viewing.

CGI Tarkin was so bad. Who thought that would work?

Yeah but if they don't include him at all then it makes no sense with episode iv.

He didn't look great but cgi characters rarely do. Neither did leia or Michael Douglas in ant man or Hopkins in westworld etc. At least they kept his involmemt to a minimum.

That reminds me. The explanation of why the Death Star had a hilarious flaw was brilliant.

that was the best star wars movie by a parsec. couldn't help but cheer when the rebel fleet arrived. I loved Chirrut and I thought he served the role of the pseudo jedi very well. I thought for sure he was going to reveal a lightsaber in his staff at the end when he makes his move for the master switch. I also thought the droid provided the perfect level of comic relief in an otherwise darker movie. Take note jar jar binks! Can't wait to see it again

I'm so happy they all died at the end. I thought for sure Disney would find a cop out, like they went into hiding.

I didn't think Tarkin/Leia were bad. Yeah, it's a bit weird - but this is the world we live in. I believe their presence added to the movie.

...and damn, what a good movie. That had some of the best Star Wars action we've seen. Had a lot of fun.

It kinda needed Tarkin. Otherwise you'd have to go out of your way to write in/explain his absence. "Yeah, Tarkin would be here to witness the testing of the Empire's new shiny toy but he took off to Hoth for an ice fishing trip"..

I thought Leia's appearance was alright, reanimation-wise.

So.....
..
.

How about them last 5 minutes?..

Makes it so much better. Episode IV feels far less silly now in a lot of ways.
