Any recommendations for a pay as you go plan? Coming back to Calgary for 2 months and would like to use my smartphone. Will be staying quite north in the city and concerned I will be out of coverage zones for unlimited calling.

Wind pay as you go. Add a $5.00 text message pack for international text message.

Plan is up in a month and I'm not really liking any of the plans offered online. Has anyone got a better deal than the online plans lately? I'm currently with Telus.

Public plans have gone up on average 10% over the past year according to the CRTC... probably retention plans have gone through the same thing? Why not go with the Koodo $55 plan?

I went with the Koodo $55 plan! -10% too. Worked like a charm, as per that link.

I'm using Rogers $100/year plan.. averages around a little over 8 dollars per month. Includes Unlimited incoming/outgoing texts, but only has 100 minutes for a year. Great, plan if you're a person who texts a lot. Call Display and voicemail included too. I don't think Data is worth an extra 40-50 dollars when there is Wifi literally every where you go.. especially if you're a Shaw customer (Shaw free wifi). Perfect plan for a student on a budget.

Anyone had luck with Telus lately? I have been on a loyalty plan for years but would like an new device. I can't get them to budge off the $75 min payment. When I called last week they recommended that I call back on Black Friday to see if they have any sales.

Switch to Koodo.
Rumour has it that they're offering the 5GB $48 in AB and BC without having to go through the loophole.

Koodo = Telus network
Fido = Rogers network
Virgin = Bell network
They all basically have same coverage across the country so you're good either way.

He had you create a new account, or put it on file or how did that work?

I need to get the account created, and he's personally going to call me later this afternoon so he can change the plan and add notes for my wife's line.

Keep in mind, the regular reps won't know about it. You'll have to call Retentions to get it changed. You can call them beforehand like I did if you want.
The catch is, it's only available today, and it's strictly BYOD. So no Tab allowed.

So call retentions first, then go in store to get account created, or other way around?
