Sounds delicious. I'm surprised it hasn't been done in Calgary already or maybe I just haven't heard of any pizza joints doing it.

We take a crunchy, all-beef taco, smother it in nacho cheese, lettuce, tomato and our special southwestern sauce. Then we wrap it in a soft, flour tortilla with a layer of refried beans in-between.
Jason: Sweet!
Announcer: Then we wrap that in a savory corn tortilla with a middle layer of Monterey Jack cheese.
Andy: Awesome!
Announcer: And it gets even awesomer, when we take a deep-fried gordita shell, smear on a little of our special "guacamolito" sauce and wrap that around the outside.
Bill: [ trying to hold this mighty taco ] This is pretty big..
Announcer: But it gets even bigger! Because we bake it in a corn husk filled with pico de gallo, then then wrap that in an authentic Parisian crepe, filled with egg, gruyere, merguez sausage and Portobello mushroom.
Jason: [ getting restless ] Can I eat in now?
Announcer: Sure. But not before we take the whole thing and wrap that in a Chicago style deep dish meat lovers pizza!
Andy: Pizza? Now that's what I call a taco!

Great now I want Ginger beef!
I was a big time fan of Peking Ginger's Ginger Beef back in Canmore when I lived there.
I'd say '04-'07 it was untouchable in deliciousness in the Mountains.

Peking Garden on Varsity is good for Ginger beef along with everything else. They cater to alot of Caucasian folks even with the recent bad press they've had over the last few years they are still a go to place.
Not only that, my dad worked there for a long time before he was forced into retirement due to his illness.

I've been meaning to try Peking Garden for a while now because we moved to Varsity and it is just down the street. When we first moved there an apology letter/flyer did come to our door with respect to the problems and issues that occurred at the restaurant in the past.

I like to make it at home. For the sauce its based on a soy sauce/water mixture with fresh ginger, sugar and red chilli. Just play around with it to find how you like it. Boil it down until it gets thick. For the beef you can use either rice flower or all purpose. I like the rice flour as its lighter and crispier. You can soak the beef in buttermilk then dip in dry flour, dip in egg wash, back in the flour and in the frier. If you want more of a tempura batter mix the rice flour with club soda (and egg if you want it thicker like chicken balls) and dip the beef in the batter before going in the frier. The key to keeping it crispy is to put the fried beef on paper towel/drip rack and tossing it in the sauce after cooked.

Bump.
Have a friend visiting from Cincinnati that used to live here with a serious craving for ginger beef. He'll be staying near the airport - any suggestions in that neck of the woods. Doesn't need to be strictly at a Chinese place.

I haven't lived in Calgary since 1993, but there used to be a place in the plaza on Centre St. and Beddington Dr. NE. I can not remember the name, and I would doubt that it's even still there, but that was a weekend staple. I used to work at the Beddington Heights Community Centre cleaning up after functions so I'd start work at 2:00am on Saturday and Sunday mornings, (sweet paying job for 13-15 year old me, me and a buddy would "help" the guy whose job it was, which entaled him opening the door for us and paying us cash when we were done) and we'd always get an order of Ginger Beef before work.
So good. I am not sure why, but Ginger Beef there is so much different. I was in Edmonton two Christmas' ago and ordered some there and it is also the same. I have never found it like that here in Ontario.

Chinese Village on 6ST SW makes it fairly hot still. Was surprised.
Leo Fu's has the best GB.
Just FYI, it actually is based on a "real" Chinese dish - Mock Eel.
