As someone who has grew up near Taber and played sport for and against there, I can say that it is a problem town. It's close enough to the boarder that there are plenty of drugs that flow through it, and with the ever increasing Mexican Mennoite population in it and surrounding towns (Grassy Lake), the drugs come even harder.
Ha, 10 bucks says that anyone not familiar with Taber, Alberta would have to assume this was a Southern USA quote. Just needed to advocate finishing that concrete fence.
I suppose if you're going to be famous for one thing all of America is renowned for, you might as well be famous for two things all of America is renowned for.
Two? Which one of corn, school shootings and racism are you not including?

Not allowed public assembly? Pretty sure that makes it fascism regardless of whatever justification is given.
Well I mean let's be fair here. Public assembly is totally allowed, as long as the police are okay with it.
What could possibly go wrong?

Enacting Martial Law to crack down on the darkies seems like a rational course of action.
I am not sure you know who or what the Mexican Mennonites are.
The concern over drugs and crime is real.
I think it has been pointed out that the swearing and spitting are on the books in other towns and cities; making fun of that part is silly. This thing Taber is doing is directly related to large groups of young Mennonites that in the town's opinion are causing trouble.
If the bylaws are unconstitutional, then I imagine they won't last long. I see a town council down there in a siege mentality.
The second aspect of the problem is that there is a large group of people we don't understand taking up space in our parks, parking lots, and other public areas. Because we don't understand them, we are uncomfortable joining them, and that affects our own enjoyment of those facilities.
There's a problem, or at the very least extremely poor word choice. It's not their parks any more than it's the Mexican Mennonites', if the Mexicans want to use them peacefully and the other Taber residents are uncomfortable being around them, #### the bigoted Taber residents.

That means you have to detain them, investigate fully, collect witness statements (what are the odds the witnesses are going to be cooperative?), and issue a Summons to Criminal Court next Tuesday. Then you're going to have to go through the trouble of criminal court proceedings for something that's actually pretty minor when you think about it. It seems a little excessive, doesn't it?
Oh yeah, God forbid that the police officers follow Canadian laws and protocols when dealing with citizens when it's so much more convenient to just take away the rights they are granted in the Charter of Rights.
Prior to reading this, I just assumed it was an overzealous police force in a rural town looking to stop no-good teenagers. Now, if this writer can be believed, it comes down to a racist town trying to chase out a group of people they are "uncomfortable" being around.
