Extending Brodie...how much?
I saw the Giordano thread, so I thought id make a Brodie thread.
He's an upcoming RFA.
Cap hit - 2.125
NHL salary - 2.5
I believe the Flames could sign him to a one year deal and he would still be an RFA. (correct me if im wrong) However, id assume the Flames would like to lock him up long term.
He has gotten off to a great start this year
5 games played, 2 goals, 3 assists, +4

Signing with a team who just won 2 cups and is in California I think is a little different than signing in Calgary.

5 years 4.7m per, somewhere around that term and number would be about right.

I would be fine if they went 8 years with Brodie on an extension.

My thoughts also. Even if we have to pay him more, id rather sign him for as many years as we can.

Brodin is younger so a longer period until he's a UFA. This is Brodie's 3rd contract so less years until he's a UFA so he'll get more.

4 years is too little, 8 is too much imo.
Let's go with the 6x6, he's at least earned it.

Lock this stud up: 5 years @ 5.5 mil is my guess. Him and Gio are gonna be fierce defensively and scary offensively over the next couple years.

If Brodie keeps playing at this level. The Flames should expect Wideman type money $ 5.5m and they should be happy to get a 6 year deal.
I sure hope they don't wimp out with a 3 year deal.

I figured $4.5 x 5 would be good, but I have no problem with the Flames going higher in $ and years.
I would hope not more than $5.5/year though.

Id hate that contract. Not sure why the Flames would want to make Brodie a UFA at 27..

You want max 8 years, no question.
Anything under $6M for that term would be a steal.

Anything less than 6 years would be far too short a signing. Money is far less of a concern than getting him locked up long term.
