HA
Varlamov - 8 wins, 2 losses, .933sv% & 2.10GAA
Giguere - 4 wins, 0 losses, .977sv% and 0.75GAA
What is your definition of good goaltending?

I don't understand these posts. Did anyone expect the Flames to win the last two games? Was I wrong for predicting a loss?

Goalie stats are usually very dependent on how the team in front of them plays. If Varlamov (or Giguere for that matter) strings together something longer than 14 good games, then I might be inclined to consider him "good".
Again, this is all my opinion.

That's fair, but I'd say for Varlamov, 10 games is a good enough idea of where he's at. Giguere's numbers will definitely go down as he plays more, but Varlamov could definitely maintain his numbers as long as Colorado doesn't completely drop off.

A .977 save % is not sustainable over time. It is luck that has it that high.
A .933 save % is possible if you are on a defensive minded team and are a Vezina Calibur goaltender.
A .925 save % would be realistic for a good goaltender.
Therefore the current goaltending stats will regress unless you believe Varlamov is a Venzina calibur goalie. I would agree that Colorado has average to above average goaltending though.
In terms of PDO (shooting % + save %) Colrado has a 1.053 which is a huge outlier the only team more lucky is the leafs at 1.055. Typically good NHL teams are at 1.025. This means out of every 100 shots they don't allow or score 2.5 more goals so there goal differential is roughly .8 goals per game better than the goal differential of a good team with average luck.
So colorado will come back to Earth somewhat. The flames also match up well against them so I think we have a good shot at pulling off the upset.

Heard it from Maher on the radio earlier this season, and Elliotte Friedman wrote an article about it. "Only 3 teams in the post-cap era have bounce back from slow starts the 2006-07 Flames, the 2010-11 Sabres, and the 2011-12 Bruins."
It's an interesting stat, but take it for what its worth.

Didn't have faith against the Blues but I think this one is winnable. Hopefully Rämö reminds people that he has actually played a couple of decent games too.

Would like to see lines like this tonight:
Backlund-Stajan-Jones
Baertschi-Monahan-Hudler
Cammalleri-Colborne-Galiardi
Bouma-Reinhart-Jackman
Brodie-Butler
Wideman-Russell
Billins-O'Brian
Ramo

I was surprised looking at the stats that the Avs have only scored 1 more goal than the Flames (they've played 2 fewer games, but I still thought they'd have more). They've only allowed 25 goals so far (the Flames are at 57), and 6 of those were in their last game.
Sounds like Bouma and Billins are the scratches tonight.

Good. Smith was playing better than Billins and Bouma is an interchangeable bottom 6 piece. Main thing is that Jackman remains in the lineup as the teams success revolves around him.

Bouma > Jackman
But at least Baertschi and Smith are in tonight. I've liked what I've seen from Smith, he's pretty good as a bottom pairing guy.

After Sven scores five goals, four assists, fights Sarich, and puts Landeskog through the glass, he goads Hartley on the bench before bitchslapping Bertuzzied with a cheque for a million bucks.
9-0 Flames.
