A couple of interesting sub-plots for this crucial game
1. The revenge factor, the habs looking to extract a pound of flesh as they are still hurting over the losing the cup to the flames
2. This potential Stanley cup final matchup is some kind of early treat from the schedule maker
3. Great opportunity for the flames to showcase glencross at a very philly fan friendly time of 8 pm ET

I kind of preferred Jones with the rookies. I am not sure if Stempniak adds enough muscle on that line.

Kinda happy about the 6PM start so I can go straight after work and be in bed at a reasonable hour .

Hate for the Flames to lose, but hopefully Macdonald gets driven from the net and right to the waiver wire.

Habby Jr's first time seeing the Canadiens live. It's been at least 10 years since they've won in Calgary, I think they're due.

It is dark days when our first line centre is Ben Street.

First Line Centre

I'm betting the bar tab with one of my buddies on this game. He is a big Habs fan.
Last time we bet it looked like they should have beat the Flames and then they lost, so let's hope I don't have to shell out for beer and wings

No, thats about on par with what we've had for a long time. Actually Ben Street seems to be one of the hardest working players on the team and that's something this team hasn't had for a while.

Stempniak has been one of our best players so far this year. Glad to see him paired with the rookies again.
Joe Colborne just looks weak out there. For a 6'5" player, he gets pushed around a lot and is easily muscled off the puck.

But is he better than Monahan and Backlund? Come on man, there are a bunch of Ben Street's out there who are either playing in the AHL or not playing at all. Anybody can go out and skate and work hard, does not mean they should be centering the 1st line.

Here I'll brighten your day...
The Lines
*T. Galiardi-M. Backlund-J. Hudler
*S. Baertschi-S. Monahan-L. Stempniak
*C. Glencross- B. Street-D. Jones
*L. Bouma-J. Colborne-B. McGrattan
... just because the herald listed the lines in some order doesn't make that those lines are going to be used in that priority either in terms of competition or icetime.
Personally, I think it's just as (if not more) likely that Glencross is having his icetime chopped for his lackluster start as it is that Street is being promoted. Hope Stajan and Cammy are back soon.

100% agree. I think Monahan should our #1 guy. He's shown it. I don't like Ben Street as the top line guy (I don't like Hartley as the coach). I think this is more just rewarding Street for doing what he's told. I think they're wanting his work ethic to rub off on Glencross....

I seriously hope the Flames demolish the Habs tonight. There's nothing in the world worse than Canadien's fans.... well maybe Canucks fans are worse, but only marginally.

Aside from Street doing a pretty damn good job so far, you don't want to break up the Hudler/Backlund/Galiardi line (they look GREAT together), and why break up Baertschi and Monahan?
Like it or not, Street is the most logical option for the top line at the moment, and he is doing ok out there. The kid is indeed versatile.
