Verizon Center and the Capitol are fairly close if you aren't familiar with the city, but if you live here, you realize that there are about 2 distinct neighborhoods in between the locations. No reason to delay the game. Actually, what is going to be more annoying is that all metro trains are only running at 6 cars long, rather than 8. The gallery place metro is going to be a cluster fata, even more than usual, tonight. I'll likely walk home instead of dealing with that insanity.

Still, it's risky playing Bärtschi and Monahan together. If they don't get pinned to their zone, it'll be a successful night. But at least Hartley isn't a coward.
Gotta put Monahan in some tough situations to see if he sinks or swims. If he can't cut it back to jr. He is so mature and focused I don't see a negative impact to going this route

I'm not thinking about any negative impact on Monahan, just that the line might get in trouble.
Just thoughts on the game, not worried about the players, but I don't see any particular reason to specifically put Sean into sink-or-swim situations either. Any coach will be careful with where and when to use inexperienced players.
Interesting to see ice time relative to time spent in their own zone. If it's at all reasonable, then that's great.
Dad of #Flames Sean Monahan here. But no jersey. "He's not that type of guy. He's kind of . . . quiet. He'll just be in his normal clothes."

As someone who has been critical of 'Artley with respect to him not giving Baertschi opportunities to succeed, I am glad to see this line combo.
However, I would like to remind everyone that Baertschi started last season on Backlund's line - they had a really good game with several scoring chances and then Baertschi's ice-time was cut every game following.
So I will reserve judgment until we see how it plays out over the next few games.
The Hartley quote from calgaryflames.com is even more damning.
Quote:
"There's no more options," Hartley stated. "The options when to work and when not to work are over. Last year, I did this with this group and as a coaching staff we felt it was a disaster. Some guys didn't use it with common sense.
"We're paid to play and we're paid to love this game. If you don't love this game, maybe we don't want you on this team."
Flames play hard. Forecheck hard. Ends up being a tight game - 4-3 win or loss. Ramo is above .900.
Predictions:
Baertschi - Monahan - Jones line is even tonight. They keep their heads above water. Sven skates hard all night and is very noticeable. Takes a slashing penalty when someone from WSH runs him, but Flames don't allow a goal on the PP.
Bouma and Glencross both get goals. Monahan named 3rd star.
Winning Lotto Max numbers for Friday are: 2, 27, 28, 32, 35, 38, 43. Bonus is 12.

I'm going to buy a ticket with these numbers.
