I am hoping Luongo holds out the season demanding to be traded, but somehow I think he'll suit up and play for the Nucks. Wins help people forget and I still think Vancouver will have a good season, not win the cup but be in the mix for the playoffs.

I think that the Canucks are going to slide into being a bubble team this year at best. Playing in a new and far tougher division filled with physical teams. I just don't think the Canucks after their top talent are all that great.
I like Torts but how long will that dressing room want to be yelled at by a defensive specialist coach.
Of course all the blame will fall on the shoulders or Loungo.

Gillis couldn't have handled this situation anymore poorly. I think everyone else in the organization handled it pretty well though. Now its time for damage control and we can just hope he agrees to come back and play.

Just a tip, if you're a Canucks fan put on a Canucks avatar to make it clear. Especially if you're going to be using pronouns like "we" when referring to the Canucks organization. Other than that, welcome to CP.

What that I had one post where I disagreed with a Flames pick? I guarantee you I'm not alone with those thoughts.

I disagreed with the pick the way you phrased it wasn't disagreeing but being a typical trolling response.
Could be a one off but not a great start.

Gillis was the first one to air his dirty laundry in public by announcing loudly and often that Schneider was the new starter. He could have easily just praised both as great goalies while looking for a trade for Lou. Instead he publicly spurned Luo. Just a real stupid move on Gillis's part.

GMMG is going down to 'smooth' things over with ol' Lu.
I think Luongo is too much of a competitor to sit out, but I do think he is enjoying making Gillis sweat (more than usual).

It's Gillis' fault. First he signs Luongo to this boner of a contract. Then he signs another goalie to starter money. Then he supplants the Luongo with the other goalie, all but announcing, then announcing that Luongo is on the trading block. Then he trades the other goalie. Now he has to mend fences with Luongo.
I'm finding it hard to get behind this team knowing how much more badly this clown can mess things up.

You're just finding it hard to get behind the Canucks now?
If you could ever get behind that collection of punks before, I'm sure you'll get over this pretty easily.

The Canucks are really starting to remind me of the 2009-2012 Flames. Hovrat and Shinkurak are better than any prospect we had in that time frame not named Sven though.

Horvat, yes. Shinkaruk, I suspect not.
Post draft he may be comparable to Backlund. Not in any way in terms of playing style, but much more in terms of their journey into professional hockey and post-draft potential. Backlund was a player who slid down the draft-rankings from in the top-ten to the 20s by the time of the draft. There were clear questions about his ability to translate his game at the NHL level, and while he was the Flames best prospect at the time of the draft, he was clearly pretty average when compared to the top-end of other teams. Shinkaruk didn't slide down the rankings, but was passed over by a dozen teams on his way to being selected well below where he was projected. Like Backlund, there are serious questions about his game, and concerns about whether he will succeed at the NHL level. Like Backlund, compared to the top end of most other NHL teams, at this point Shinkaruk looks pretty average.
One could probably also add Erixon and Nemisz to the list of Flames picks with comparable post-draft potential to Shinkaruk.
