Default How do you organize your iPhone?

A post in another thread got me thinking about this.

After procrastinating for at least 6 months, I finally did a full clean of my phone (getting rid of old games, unwanted apps). Similar to cleaning out one's closet, it was a constant tug of war between cleaning/reorganizing phone and "oh but I kinda liked that one".

Anyway, as a result I have loosely reorganized my iPhone. I got rid of the folders in general and now have basically:
- First screen for essentials
- Second for other daily uses plus news apps
- Third and fourth and a bit of fifth are random business, or utility apps (could clean that up). Have a couple folders for duplicate stuff (ex. scanning apps)
- six through to eight are games

However, I am always interested in others methods of organization.

I was down to 3 screens on my 3GS; now with my 5 I have even more room.

Like you first page is the stuff I use all day every day; or things I will need quickly like the camera or calculator. The Angry Birds folder is also on page 1. On page 3 I also have a "Stuff Not Used" folder.

I also refuse to install apps for anything that has a website; unless that app does something special. For example, the Canadian Tire app has a shopping list, and will email you when something on your list goes on sale. It also has a price scanner.

I use folders extensively so I have all of the news/reference/tools type stuff on the first page grouped into folders like Sports, Travel, Shopping, Reference, Utilities, etc. and all of the games on the second with any stuff I never use on the third (i.e. Newsstand, the default Weather, Mail, Stocks apps).

I really should go through and delete a bunch of the stuff I haven't used but I'm not really short of space yet so it hasn't been necessary.

Trying to get away from folders generally, and especially on the home screen.

The folder implementation is so ridiculously bad its not that useful anyways. Who needs 9 more pinhead sized icons inside another box. It's just another layer of information hiding that runs rampant throughout springboard.

I usually use a hammer but if you don't have one a brick works well.

Sorry, you're going to have to make some changes.

Camera icon belongs in the top right corner only - this places it directly behind the physical lens and provides a quick visual clue as to correct phone orientation when you go to shoot.

That's actually brilliant. I'm always sticking my fingers in front of the lens when I turn the camera on... sweet!

Possibly a newbie question; is there a way to "lock" an icon to one spot? I often find I need one icon is a better spot, and then that shifts everything else to the next spot over.

Just noticed you're an OF user - and thus clearly an individual of impeccable taste.

Safari on iOS 6 is super fast- I actually much prefer it to Chrome on iOS and any other web browser.

Now Game Center - that truly is the most useless app on the iPhone. What is that app even for? To log in?

I never ever need to access that app - ever. All games handle Game Center by them selves?

And how is News Stand not in that folder? Oh yeah - F'n Apple.

Newsstand is great if you have subscriptions, but I agree it probably shouldn't appear until you have at least one digital magazine app installed.

I just upgraded reminders back to main screen. With notification center and Siri it has become more relevant.
