As for Minny, putting all their eggs in one basket and expecting either of them to be "game changers" may haunt them for 13 years. They have good talent coming up the ranks, but neither of them were game changers on their previous teams and now they are both on a weaker team so don't expect any miracles here.

Kipper is fairly inconsistant ? do you watch hockey ?.. I'm gonna end it there.
Parise and Suter are not game changers? Huh!

Just fact checking here: Parise out for a year . NJD are 13 pts behind the Flames and miss the playoffs... He plays the next year gets 31 goals 69 points and they go to the SC Finals...... In the dictionay under "game changers" There is a picture of Parise.

The Devils were 22 pts in the standings better with him the line up. Minny goes up 22 pts and they are at 108 and in the top 2-3 teams in the league.

No you're wrong. Stats clearly show Kipper has up and down seasons. Even with the eyeball test its easy to see he has good and bad seasons.

No, I don't think they are. I think Weber is a game changer. I think Kovi is a game changer.

Though I love Kipper, he does have a lack of consistency season to season. He's been carrying this team on his shoulders since the lockout, and IMO has been the best goalie since the lockout. His stats are inconsistent, but if this team rallies and has a great season next year with Kipper in net playing behind a good defense, he will easily be the scariest goalie to play against in the league. A .921 save percentage on the 3rd worst scoring team in the league and quite possibly the team with the worst defense in the league is actually a frightening stat. Not to mention his game-saving game-changing saves he makes.. all the time.

I wouldn't be shocked if he picks up yet another Vezina nomination next season, especially because he was in the top 5 for wins at one point near the end of the season along with Fleury, Rinne, and a few other playoff goalies.

If we had a solid defense like the Blues did last season.. he would probably be among the best in the league season-to-season.

Though maybe the pressure is what's giving him such success between the pipes?

Hopefully, the pressure is relieved next season, and he still plays like a boss.

NJ also had the help of a healthy Elias stepping up his game, the newcomer Henrique, Sykora coming back solid, Zubrus having a solid year, and Kovi stepping it up to 80+ points, and some other guys stepping up like Clarkson. Parise was 3rd in scoring. Don't attribute the teams success to one guy when there were many others around him stepping it up. 3rd in scoring on his team ! Elias was ahead of him !!! I'm not saying he is not a good player- but he is not a GREAT player- same as Suter.

The degree to which people overestimate Jbo's trade value is unbelievably hilarious. EVERYONE WANTS HIM TO BE TRADED. THERE IS A REASON FOR THIS. OTHER TEAMS DO NOT WANT HIM ANY MORE THAN FLAMES FANS WANT HIM. Figure it out... jesus.

Who Has been the best goalie in the league since the lockout ? considering the team he is on and what he means to his team, who keeps his team in a game year after year ?, who has been better ? I know you said Kipper, but also take into account that some of Kipper's stats are not all that out of whack year to year and one might want to consider the team's performance in front of him. If Kipper has 4 un-Kipperlike games in a row, the sky is falling. Stats are not the end all be all~ we got to look at the performer himself and what he means to his team. IMO, if Van had Kipper the last 2 years, they may have 2 Stanley Cup banners hanging in their rafters right now.

I think that illusive number one center is always going to be just that, illusive. Bummer, but true.

Forget a number 1 center, I just want someone to be a number 1 on our team. A true centerman who is accomplished, has a good face-off percentage, and can chip in with some points. It would be nice if they were a bigger body so they could also help make some room for Iggy and Tangs.

The only real bonafied center we have is Stajan, so as long as the new guy is more consistant, hopefully bigger, with the same kind of face-off percentage and has some grit to him, I would be a happy camper. Any upgrade to Stajan would be a big bonus- no offence to Stajan.

There was a lot more wrong with the devils two years ago than just missing parise. The whole team looked off, kovalchuk was playing terrible and the chemistry was shot. They reminded me of the flames prior to the dion trade.

The wild will be very disappointed with suter in a few years as well.

The Flames and Devils were on equal levels two years ago ironically enough- in the standing and even got hot at the same time and both had excellent records from Christmas on 2 years ago~ However, also take this into consideration, Kovi was with a new team and was probably getting used to it (new linemates, system, the whole contract thing). There was no Henrique, no Sykora, Clarkson was not the player he bloomed into this year (30 goals vs 12 the year before), Zubrus had an off year. Also, Peter DeBoar took over the head coach reigns which I believed turned that team around right away and cannot be underestimated (see Sutter in L.A.) John Maclean had to be replaced the previous season by Lemaire cause he was brutal and when Lemaire got in, they had the same kind of run the Flames had. Brodeur was also hurt for a few games as well that year. All I'm saying is that although I agree Parise is a good player, there were many factors the year before that led to the Devil's demise at the beginning of the season and eventually, missing the playoffs. Even when Parise was healthy, he wasn't leading them to the promise land in the years before that.

It also goes to show what the combination of a new coach, healthy roster and a top rookie can make. This is why all the doom and gloom around the Flames is blown out of proportion.

The combination of Hartley, a healthy roster, a great season by Baertschi or Cervenka and a good "bounce back" season from Cammalleri and the Flames could very well be in a good position entering the playoffs.

i'm still trying to get my head around "parise's not a game changer".

Minny may not be a force this coming season, but wait till that prospect pool blossoms a bit over the next 2 years, they are going to be a major force, especially when you consider a foundation of suter/parise as their cornerstones.
