For a good shooting event to watch, watch the trap or skeet events. They are more exciting as you get to see moving targets blow up when you hit them. The double trap final is on right now. http://www.ctvolympics.ca/videos/cha...rap-final.html
You were right, that was much more enjoyable. 150 shots in qualifying plus 50 shots in the final.
Best out of 200 shots wins.
It's Olympic Duck Hunt!

The NBA is comprised of mostly but not exclusivly Americans. Isn't it time the IOC realizes that it is not good for the "spirit" of the Olympics having this brash American celebrity Dream Team completly humiliating their opponents.
98 - 71 over France
110 - 63 over Tunisia
156 - 73 over Nigeria
Its not about only winning its about completing destroying their opponents.
They would dunk on blind children and think nothing wrong about it.

Its a slippery slope though. In team sports it easier to see when one country is so much better than others but there are plenty of individual sports where countries like China & USA are equally as dominant as the US basketball team.
Hard to make a case to get rid of NBA players because they're too good when plenty of athletes are too good for their competition in individual sports too. They'd have to get rid of NHL players too, even though the talent is very much spread out.
They can't punish the US because other countries can't produce basketball players on their level. If they don't allow NBA players, they simply have to eliminate NHL players as well.

I guess by those standards we shouldn't have let Usain Bolt run in Beijing.
You can have an augment about not having basketball in the Olympics, but i don't see the point of having a sport where the best are not allowed to compete.

There is much more competive balance for Hockey in the Olympics amongst Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Czech, and Slovakia.
Since 1998 when the NHL entered The Gold has been won by 4 Countries
Czech, Sweden and Canada x2.
and the games are hardly complete blowouts unlike this ridiculous lobsided USA NBA built teams.
Mens Olympic Basketball has become a sham since they allowed the NBA to participate. This has become the USA dream team vs themselves.
The USA has won 13 out of the 16 Olympics Basketball has been in since 1936. Since the IOC allowed pro NBA BS the USA have won the Gold all but 1 Olympics when Argentina shocked. Because the USA team was partying the night before in Athens nightclubs, its well documented.
Several players have since said they thought Argentina would be just another cakewalk.

If you read my post, you'd see I said that Hockey is much more balanced worldwide.
The problem is you can't just not allow pros in one sport but allow them in others if they have an agreement in place. Its not the US' fault that other countries can't produce basketball players like they can.
Anyway, I'm not going to argue with you. You seem to be of the opinion that its fair to exclude pro basketball players but not hockey players, which isn't fair at all IMO. If the NBA has an agreement with the Olympics, they should be allowed to play.
As mentioned earlier, should they start excluding individual atheletes that are too good for their competition? If your answer is no, you can't say any different for the US basketball team.
I guess by those standards we shouldn't have let Usain Bolt run in Beijing.

It's the reason softball was removed from the Olympics - lack of competition. Basketball is just as bad if not worse.
The only reason basketball sticks around is because I'm sure it's a big ratings draw in North America and Europe.
NBA players want to get paid to go to the Olympics, so I suspect eventually they'll demand that, be refused, and that'll be the end of NBAers in the Olympics. Not that it'll matter much, the US will still win year in and out because a team of US college players would still destroy most teams in the world.
