Didn't think this would fit in the Flames forum, so thought I'd stick it here.
The Norfolk Admirals went on a 28 game win streak to end their season. That's gotta be some kind of record for a pro hockey team. I wouldn't want to face them if I were on an AHL team heading into the playoffs.
Yikes.

Their last loss was on Super Bowl Sunday. During the run, they've only gone to overtime twice.
The good news for Abbotsford is that Norfolk is in the East, so they'd have to go to the Calder Cup Finals before facing those Admirals (the Heat play the Milwaukee Admirals -- Nashville's farm team -- in the first round).

One of the guys on the team tweeted something like 28 is luck, but if they get 29 it's a streak. lol

Thanks for clearing that up, i kept hearing heat draw the admirals in the first round on the fan.
Which team had the name first? two teams with the same name in the same league is a pet peeve of mine. I dunno why it bothers me so much, but if it happened in the nhl, lets say the Markam Flames i would lose it.

Norfolk joined the AHL as an expansion team in 2000.
The Milwaukee Admirals started play in the USHL in 1973, joined the IHL in 1977, and finally became part of the AHL when the IHL folded in 2001 and the 6 remaining IHL teams joined the AHL.
So, Norfolk had the name in the AHL first, but a hockey team in Milwaukee has used the name longer.

It was a 5-2 final too, so it wasn't that close either.
Also, because Norfolk was the only higher ranked team to choose to start the first round best-of-five series at home, they now have to win 2 of 3 games on the road to win the series.
