I doubt it. So you are saying management is dictating to Brent Sutter what his line up must be?
I'm not agreeing that thats the way it's going down but Brent is part of the management team and would certainly know the cap problems and potental trades. In the case of Sarich he has had big problems staying healthy lately and if there is a trade in the works I can see management being afraid to blow it considering the cap problems and 6 other heathy D available.

Why would someone want him in a trade then if Sutter is so afraid that he won't even be able to get through a couple of games without getting injured? The only time you scratch someone because of a trade is if the deal will be announced literally within 24 hours after a game. You don't scratch someone for over a week. This sounds more like wishing thinking on the part of some posters than it does anything else.

So options (and debunks are) :
Pardy show cased (if he is, why is Staois playing instead of Sarich?)
Sidelined to prevent injury in case of trade (makes sense)
Brett would rather play Pardy and Staois over Sarich, and Sarich is a #8 defenseman on this team.

I think this is being analysed too much. Sutter just prefers Staios and Pardy to Sarich. It would not be good for player relations to try to force Sarich to waive his NMC, although player relations have never been the Sutter's strong suite... see the Ference trade, and last years Jokinen trade.
Hard to understand whether Sarich or Staios makes any difference at all. Team held scoreless in two games and the 5th defense is an issue.
Sarich is getting injury prone so if you keep him around you know that his backup will get lots of playing time so you can't trade any defencemen at this time.
I predict Sarich, Staios & Pardy taking turns on the bottom pair with Brodie until they send Brodie to Abbotsford... which unless Brodie suddenly starts scoring regularly is bound to happen. Then those same 3 will rotate through sitting a game out in the press box.
Makes sense to carry 7 dmen up, especially for road trips. And the only reason they have 8 at the moment is that they're giving Brodie a trial run for a few games during the regular season instead of just in preseason.
That's all it is. No trades or injuries or anything to read into.
Do these recent movements with Brodie and Mikkelson have any bearing on the Flames D? Does this add fuel to the fire as far as trade speculation for Sarich or are these farm/depth moves?

The only good thing about trading Sarich would be the cap space it would free up for players that will eventually be coming off the LTIR.
Other than that, if a trade is looming, I hope to hell it's Staios gone and not Sarich.
