I'm curious as I've never seen any mention of this and Gagne, of course, was just traded to TBL.

several reasons why I can see the Flames persuing him at the deadline...

1. I expect Tampa out of playoff contention and the Flames in contention
2. He is a UFA this summer (so just being acquired doesn't mean much)
3. Our weakest forward position is LW
4. A 5.25 million cap hit required only about 1.5-1.75 million in cap space
5. With his injury history he will be cheaper to acquire

Just because no rumor mongers are going on about Gagne doesn't mean it can't happen close rot the deadline... and his salary and trade value make him a much more realistic posibilty than Richards who will likely cost us a 1st rounder, a good prospect and a roster player(s) to get him under the cap

If I was Yzerman, i'd be looking to deal Gagne and St Louis at the deadline to really accelerate their little rebuild, they could get a very nice return for St Louis as a rental... I could see Detroit picking him up, or Pittsburgh.

The only problem with that is I think Tampa Bay is a solid playoff team this year and that is Yzerman's expectations. He would not have acquired Gagne if he was looking at a rebuild.
