Ya, I also used to run all of the bot programs. Pindle bots, Meph bots, and my favorite, the gamble bot that would look for the Cruel Colossus Sword/Blade of Quickness.

There may be 2 Blizzard releases in 2010.

Quote:
One analyst asked just that during the call, since the delay of StarCraft 2 isn't expected to impact Diablo 3. Both StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 launching in the same year would be a rather epic thing for gamers, but Blizzard isn't quite ready to say that it's going to happen.

"I would just like to reiterate that we haven’t announced any release dates on any future titles. And I will also reiterate that the move of Starcraft into next year does not impact the schedule and so it would be correct to conclude that you could expect two releases of Blizzard next year," Michael Morhaime, the president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment said on the call, "but I would not make any conclusion on what those titles are going to be."

My understanding from reading various blizzard boards is that the order will go:

Starcraft 2 > Next WOW expansion > Diablo 3

WOTLK has been out for around 10 months now.. so they are due for a new expansion before Diablo 3 is set to hit stores.

That is purely speculation... but either way, don't expect it out for around 2-3 years at best.. this is Blizzard. They take their time, but they get it done right and you can expect a high quality item. I would much rather have that than EA's rush factory of craptastic quality video games.

If Starcraft and Diablo were released in the same year, how much cannibalization would happen? In my mind alot of starcraft players are also diablo players.

Probably not the best business strategy.

If Diablo III and Starcraft 2 have the same shelf life as their other games, releasing them at the same time shouldn't be too much of a problem - they really base their games on word-of-mouth marketing and long-term sales.

Releasing both in the same year would be a 1-2 punch that could easilb cannibalize all other new releases except their own.

Maybe this is just me, but I basically buy every game Blizzard makes. WC1, Diablo, WC2/Tides of Darkness, SC/Broodwar, WC3/The Frozen Throne, WoW/Burning Crusade/Wrath. Blizzard seem to have loyal customers more than any other company, and I'm pretty sure that most Blizzard fans will buy both SC2 and D3.

All blizzard games have the same release date.

When it's done.

I was reading the IGN forums and tons of people were saying Blizzard doesn't even make any good games. I don't go there anymore.

If SC2 and D3 are released within the same year they won't hurt each others sales, but they will destroy everyone elses. I know for me I won't be buying as many 360 games, only D3.

Vivendi throwing Activision and Blizzard together does not help this legacy. From what I understand, Activision pretty much forced WotLK out early, and Bliz has been trying to play catch up with both content and bugs ever since.

The next gen mmo Bliz is developing is what really interests me.

Blizzard managed to hit gold in the mid 90s with their three big games, but they haven't developed anything "new" since. Course, if you have three of the greatest game lines in video game history, you might not feel the need.

But I would really like to see Bliz come out with an entirely new game in a new world. This mmo, hopefully, will be it.

That's interesting... I hadn't heard that. They obviously have lost their power over them though as SC2 will be coming out well after the game could have potentially been released. The delay was to build a new Battle.net, apparently the game itself would have been ready for the holiday season.

This has been confirmed by Blizzard. The new MMO is a new intellectual property.

It will also, according to them, be so radically different from WoW that they do not expect the games to directly compete.

I wouldn't mind someone (read: Blizzard) finally making an MMO shooter that has the same level of polish and feel that WoW does.

looks like D3 is pushed to 2011, not a big surprise.

In happier news, the 4th class was unveiled today, the monk.

There's a video of the monk, but it's not in-game and looks pretty crappy.

FWIW, this was second hand, so reliability is not guaranteed. It does make some logical sense though, as WotLK was released only a few months after Activision and Blizzard were merged, and there might have been some pressure to generate some additional revenue.

It was only announced 14 months ago... you were waiting 3 additional years for a game that was only rumored to be in development?

But I do understand the sentiment... It would have been mind-bendingly amazing to have SC2, WoW:Cataclysm, and DIII all in the same year... and Blizzard would have made billions and Billions and BILLIONS of $$$.
