Default Geocities is Closing Down for Good - How to Backup?

Yahoo is finally shutting down Geocities, one of the mainstays of the web circa the 1995-2001 era. The big unplug is coming later this year (as yet undisclosed).

Does anybody know a good program that can download all the files and directory structure from the root of a geocities account? Geocities cut off free FTP access to regular Geocities accounts back in 2002. The Geocities File Manager doesn't have any download options.

I guess $3.57 Billion just doesn't go as far as it used to*

*That is what Yahoo! paid to purchase Geocities in Jan. 1999

Httrack will probably do what you want. It downloads an entire website to your local machine and retains the files and directory structure.

Geez, that's the end of an era. I kinda feel sad about this. Any news about Angelfire?

Awww. I remember way back when building my first webpages on Geocities and Angelfire. Haven't been there or used it in years since, but I'll miss it.
