Adam Pardy also absent too. So you have Moss and McElhinney who are on the team rated 5th and 7th and Pardy who most likely rates as the #8 guy on the current depth chart for defence not even on the list. Seems like more of a what if list than a who's actually got a shot to be on the team list.

Awful. Just a real mess. The product of one guy pulling stuff out of his ass. No more, no less.
Hockey's Future sucks. They are to scouting as Eklund is to journalism.
They should just come clean and admit they haven't a clue and leave the Flames spot blank. No point in even dissecting it. Crickets chirping in the vast expanse of the wasteland that it has always been Hockey's Future Flames coverage would have more relevance.

yeah the abscence of Negrin is dodgy, and as mentioned even a guy like Palin, Lalande maybe
the numbers thing I never know about either...it so early on a guy like Pelech. I know we are supposed to have abandoned him, but projecting him as a guy that 'might' be a 6th dman, more likely a career minor leaguer seems early days yet
Something that really jumps out at me is how low Keetley is. I mean, it's a terrible list (WTF is Moss doing on it???) but Keetley at 13? I suspect he sees action in the NHL sometime this or next season. I think he's closer than a lot of people think.
don't know where Aaron Marvin should be ranked, but skating is certainly not a "glaring weakness". Can't fathom how anyone who has seen him play would say that. If anything, skating is a positive, especially for a big man. He's strong on his skates; always moves his feet. He's a bit choppy in his stride, but nothing a few training camps with Barry Karn wouldn't fix
Better List:
-Giordano and Taratukhin removed due to departures.
-Moss and McElhinney gradated.
1. Dustin Boyd, F, Quad City Flames (AHL)
2. Leland Irving, G, Everett Silvertips (WHL)
3. Mikael Backlund, F, Vasteras (Sweden)
4. Daniel Ryder, F, Quad City Flames (AHL)
5. Matt Keetley, G, Quad City Flames (AHL)
6. Adam Pardy, D, Quad City Flames (AHL)
...
14. Brett Sutter, F, Quad City Flames (AHL)
15. Eric Nystrom, F, Quad City Flames (AHL)
16. Tim Ramholt, D, Quad City Flames (AHL)
17. Tomi Maki, F, Quad City Flames (AHL)
18. Aki Seitsonen, F, Quad City Flames (AHL)
19. John Negrin, D, Kootenay Ice (WHL)
20. Adam Cracknell, F, Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL)
21. Ryan Donally, F, Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL)
22. J.D. Watt, F, Red Deer Rebels (WHL)
23. Juuso Puustinen, F, Kamloops Blazers (WHL)
24. Aaron Marvin, F, NCAA
25. James Spratt, G, NCAA
short term list this is ok, but long term hard to know. I'm not as high on Puustinen as some people for example, but there is still some upside there, higher than we've seen I would think from Seitsonen, Cracknell, Donally et al. Pardy ranks high based on he is closest to getting a NHL chance, but again a guy like Negrin probably has higher upside and downside. I' m never quite sure how to balance those 2 factors
Just to give you an idea of the sheer enormity of the undertaking, consider that the Flames 15-man scouting department devotes considerable full-time hours to evaluating prospective players. This is why leaving having ONE writer (in this particular instance) compiling a ranking of 39 players and trying to pass it off as even the least bit authoritative is an exercise in sheer futility.

Making it even more hilarious that it's the Grease fans' bible.

There's no denying the Oilers writer has ongoing access to the team's hockey operations department. That, I think, produces a bias and contributes to adherence to the Party Line. Rightly or wrongly, there's a natural tendency for scouting departments to present a positive public face to their own handiwork. Add to that an effusive writer and you've got the breeding grounds for unrestrained hype.
But that's them. CalgaryPuck can only take care of its own house.

Is he even still on the radar. haven;t heard crap about him.

The best part about that is that it breeds the consistnt level of mediocrity, due to the fact that Grease fans always feel that management has done such a good job that they're always "one year away" from contending. It's a great time to be a Flames fan.
