It's not common but there's lots. And to get around that they'd have to basically say that "what we REALLY mean is no more than two colours, so no pride tape!!!". And then they'd look like total fools.
Well, I mean they already do, but you know what I mean.

They had to know it was going to create a mess.
The decision should have been reversed already.
And honestly, it should cost someone their job.

They should have known, but they're stupid and tried to quietly end pride support because of a few angry bigots in the league that didn't want to look bad.
There will be a backlash now and teams and players will speak and act out against it. Makes me wish the Flames hadn't been so quick to speak out with "it is what it is" and "we will support the community but follow the rules" responses. Would have been way better to just wait.

Allyship is all rainbows and glitter until there's pushback. The NHL was all on board with attracting diverse demographics until push came to shove and they folded like cardboard.

The Oilers had a pro Israel message tonight. I thought the NHL didn’t want to get into political debates

Andersson didn't speak out. He was asked a question and he answered it honestly. We can wish he was more forceful in his response, but I can also understand players' reluctance to make this a 'distraction', no matter how much I'd respect them for it from the comfort of my couch+keyboard.

Came to post this. Hope the "sports shouldn't be political" crowd sends as strong a message about this travesty as they did with pride jerseys, kneeling/sitting for anthems, etc.

So no players have defied the ban yet?

No.
But on 32 Thoughts yesterday Elliott said the whole issue was being discussed behind the scenes. So maybe that's part of why no on has? Just spitballing.

I believe numerous players will defy the stupid ban. It takes one to get the ball rolling.

The longer it takes to happen, the less likely it's going to happen.
At least in my view.

A high profile event like say, a Heritage Classic perhaps? In Edmonton where the tape was invented?

The culture within Hockey tends to push down and exercise any sort of inclination or personality from most players.

I don't believe any player has used the Pride Tape other than during the warm-ups prior to their team's Pride Night game. It likely won't be until a team has its Pride Night that we'll see if anyone defies this.

Huberdeau used it in a game when playing for Florida.

That's when I think it'll take place.
