Yup, I think they move on. Then I remember that they lose a 3rd round pick if they re-sign him. No doubt about it, Elliott's gone

Elliott like doesn't get a contract next year from anyone. Best case for him he sits and waits until some other teams goalies falter and gets a one year league minimum flyer.

I've been defending Elliott to friends recently.
Pretty impossible now.
Ben Bishop July 1st Flames signing?

Pay the price to get a real #1. Enough bargain basement shopping.
Though man it would have been nice if they had gotten Martin Jones a few years ago.
Go get Schneider.

Saros is exempt from the expansion draft, don't see why they'd trade him.

With the expansion draft, the Flames have some options.

He's cost us this series, and himself millions and millions given it's a contract year

LOL a 31 year old goaltender making $6 million annually until 2022 coming off his worst career season. What could go wrong for the Flames?

If the Flames sign a goaltender it better be for three to four years, max. They need a vet to hold the fort while Gillies gets some experience over the next two years. Flames have some good options in the system, I'd hate to see them blow their cap load on a goaltender that will be out of the picture in three years time.

Maybe Elliott will be backup next season? Too bad, he was on a good tear. Hopefully Sigalet gets canned.

I get the anger but stop with the personal hate. It hasn't worked out like we hoped and this series ends his tenure here. But all this vitriol is brutal. Guy got hot and got us into the playoffs which we have to thank him for. I Wish him well in his next stop, sorry it didn't work out like we wished it would have.

I like Elliott but he's not an NHL starting goaltender. Simply lacks the consistency required of a top NHL starting goaltender. If he will accept a $1.5 million/season deal to be the backup I have no issues with him coming back. As a starter no chance.

I'm not a fan, but I gotta think trading for Fleury makes the most sense timing wise.
You don't want to commit 6 or 7 years to Bishop, whereas Fleury only has 2 years left on his contract.
Scary thought though because I could see Fleury crumble under the Canadian market pressure.

I don't get the "wish him well" part. I hope he's on another team and I hope the flames score 10 goals every game they play against him. I don't hope he wins somewhere else.

Darling or Grubauer are probably my first choices. No more of the older goalies who need a '2nd' chance. Get younger guys who have played very well in the backup role and are ready to be a starter like a Talbot.
