Agreed, great cover. Headstones were a fave of mine.

I'm a huge Springsteen fan but one of my favourite covers is Manfred Mann's cover of Blinded By The Light. I turn it up everytime it plays on my radio/ipod.

Great band, but aren't they from Kingston? I'm almost sure they are. Anyway, one of my favorite covers is Sarah Polley singing 'Courage', by the Hip.

Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Originally by Gordon Lightfoot, covered by Simon Bar Sinister
99 Red Balloons - Originally by Nena, covered by Goldfinger
Ring of Fire - Originally by Johnny Cash, covered by Social Distortion

Those were the last three songs on my mp3 player, oddly enough.

Not going to say better, but Live covering Cash's I Walk the Line is terrific.

I like this version better than the one by Bob Dylan & Guns N Roses.

My 3 faves:

Sonic Youth - Superstar (Carpenters)

The White Stripes - Jolene (Dolly Parton)

Nirvana - The Man Who Sold the World (David Bowie)

Honourable mention to Modest Mouse doing Slayer's South of Heaven.

Holly McNarland covering Phil Collins' "In the air tonight"

its even better live
of note shes also done covers of the pixies(hey), willie nelson (blue eyes) and Heart (barracuda)
I wish i had a copy of the last one, but it was only performed live, and no recording of it exists to my knowledge

Lenny Kravitz - American Woman (The Guess Who)
Pearl Jam - Reign O'er Me (The Who) this one pains me because I LOVE the who but have to admit that pearl jam's version is better IMO
