Default Keyboard is messed up in Firefox

Hey gang. Weird problem here...my keyboard is messed up when using firefox. It`s like firefox thinks its a european or some other keyboard. The letters all work fine, but the symbols are all wrong. For example

question mark: É
Front slash: é
Left square bracket: pressing once does nothing, but pressing twice makes ^^
Right square bracket: pressing once does nothing, but pressing twice makes ¸¸
At symbol: "
Money sign: $ (ooo, that one works...so do the round brackets I guess)
That wavy line beside the number one: |
Backslash: <

And on, and on, and on...

Anyone ever seen thisÉ (grrr, stupid no question mark). It`s only doing this in firefox. Everything is fine in IE, notepad, etc.

Thanks everyone.

A better google search string is your friend. Apparently in firefox, pressing left alt + shift switches your language settings. Fixed now.

Sorry for wasting forum space. Mods, feel free to delete.

This is not the first time, nor the last time this question has been asked on these forums.

Are you sure this is just in Firefox? This sounds more like the language input issue in Vista. If you find it happens in other programs, use <ctrl>+<shift> to switch the keyboard input until the symbols are properly aligned.

There is a way to turn it off completely. I think it's under Language settings or whatever the Vista equivalent is for that. I've heard this is also an issue for some XP users, especially if they didn't pick the US Keyboard as their default.

It's not firefox... it's the shortcut used in windows to change the language. I was stuck with this problem for a few days. Damn vista.

What a stupid shortcut! It doesn't even give you notice that you've just changed the language. Ctrl and shift are far too close together.

My keyboard switches to French every few days. I change it back and a few days later it changes back to French again. I have Vista. Can I change it so this doesn't happen again?

Threaten to go to war with it and it will surrender.
