At Long Last - The Sarcasm Mark!!!
Did a search on this but couldn't find anything, hopefully it's not a fata....this news is worth risking it tho! At last a company out there has solved the problem of what to do to signify sarcasm (apparently they didn't know about green text...).

Ah, green text. Never used it, never will. If someone can't understand when I'm being sarcastic then the humour would probably be lost on them anyway.

What a cash grab, hopefully it doesn't take off. I'm disappointed green text has gotten anywhere too. If people can't identify sarcasm they should learn

Having to signify sarcasm with specially coloured text or punctuation marks ruins sarcasm and does nothing but further dumb down for a mass audience what once was a fine art.

"Statements have the period. Questions have the question mark. Exclamations have the exclamation mark. When you see the newest punctuation mark for sarcasm, you'll know the writer of that sentence doesn't literally mean what they're writing; they're being sarcastic ," the company said in a release.

I wouldn't use a mark, but I will disagree that sarcasm is always detectable. In many cases, people don't know you at all, and sometimes sarcasm or irony can be subtle enough that even people who do know you won't detect it. Having said that, the.only times I've used green text are when I think that the irony or sarcasm is subtle enough to be easily missed AND it's a situation where I don't want to be misinterpreted. In most cases, if you miss it, too bad for you.
BTW, I wouldn't use 'the Mark' because it really would ruin most instances and people would come to expect it every time, which eliminates some of the fun of using irony or sarcasm.
