Default Best sandwich in town?

I know most people can make their own sandwich that is far superior than what you find at restauruants, but unless I am invited to your place to try one, let's stick with some restaurant gems. Sorry for all the food threads, but I love getting idea's for different restaurants. I will suggest a little place in Temple in the N.E. , it's called Alberta Subs and has the best Montreal Smoked Meat in town. In fact the whole restaurant is Montreal inspired and has some really great subs etc...

Peppino's in Kensington is my favourite sandwich place. It's nothing fancy, just good quality fresh ingredients....which is what sandwiches are all about.

And may I suggest the Italian Kiss shake for dessert! Mama Mia!

Blimpie's has the best subs.

There's a deli across from Chinook Mall in the parking lot with the Red Lobsters called Keiths Deli. Keiths Special is the best sandwhich I've tasted in my 27 years living in this city.

Palace Of Eats is the name of that sandwich place beside the Galaxie Diner.
Very good.

My favourite sandwiches are from Cafe Mauro on 1st St between 8th & 9th Ave S.W.

Whenever management has onsite meetings they get sandwich platters from the Lazy Loaf. I don't find them anything special, but maybe that is the delivery platters or what was ordered.

Keith's Deli has Awesome sandwiches.

If you are looking for Montreal Smoked Meat, Palace of Eats is good and so is Cafe Metro down by Outlaws on Macleod.

The Italian bakery, just off of Blackfoot most people think its just a bakery but they make a mean sandwich there, but the best Sandwich I ever had was at the Italian Bakery in Kelowna my god that was the most unbelievable sandwich I have ever had, it was huge and cheap and 3 different types of meats, god lord I want drive to Kelowna right now just thinking about it

I'll third the votes on the Keith's Special.

When you include "ease of finding" though, my vote goes to Safeway's deli. They take Subway/quizno's/etc to the cleaners. Get the California Dreamin'. You won't be disappointed.

I'll add a fourth for Keith's Deli, and a third for Blimpies.

Dino Rosa's on MacLeod and 94th makes fantastic meatball sandwiches as well.

I'm in Winnipeg, so I can't really comment on sandwiches in Calgary... except I'm a big Quiznos fan. You guys must have Quiznos out there? I go out for a Classic Italian on white with onions, tomatoes, olives and jalapeno's at least once a week. I have to agree that Blimpies is awesome. There is no Blimpies here in Manitoba, however when I lived in Lloydminster I'd go there all the time. Only place I've seen where they slice the deli meats right in front of you, everytime. yum!

yes we have Quizno's and although pricey its decent for chain subs...I was surprised to see how many Quizno's there seemed to be in the peg last time I was there though

Merle's in Kensington also does decent smoked meat

my dad said the last time he was at Cafe metro the smoked meat was too lean...apparently he was told the clientele asked for a healthier sandwhich, which seems to defeat the purpose of smoked meat but anyways...

Question:

Where can one get a good Monte Cristo sandwich?

They are usually pub fare/greasy spoon diner fare, but the place I used to enjoy them, I can no longer frequent (and never liked frequenting there in the first place, but thats a different story).

Ya for sure, I live in St. James and I can think of 3 locations off the top of my head that are within a 5 minute drive.
