Judging by the way you presented your arguement (If you represent the views of a lot of people in these communities) it looks to me like people in these communities will serve up a lesson in hypocracy for criticizing the Tsu Tina of NIMBYism for turning down Plan A by spending efforts towards their own kind of NIMBYism to prevent Plan B.

I think that the city should just get this done now. I can't see the ring road having a major effect on my day-to-day driving, but I can see the benefit for the growth of the city and for others. I hope that the new version accidentally blocks access to the casino off 37th as well.

I live in Lakeview, and the widening of Glenmore as part of this will at least disrupt our lives during constuction.
The general attitude around the community is, and has been since we've lived here past 4+ years, that something was going to go haywire with the Tsuu Tina, and there was a good chance that 37th St was going to turn into another Glenmore trail....so its not a shock that people are going to be fighting over.
There's a begrudging acceptence that this was going to be the case. The traffic trying to pull a u turn by coming into Lakeview on Crowchild when Glenmore is buggered up once every 2 weeks is frustrating as residents, so at least that will be alliviated with a new road.
Two other options are extending Crowchild across the resovoir, but that's not likely, or is using the extra wide 66th Ave in Lakeview as a cut accross from Crowchild to the new 37th St bridge.
About 120 homes on 37st are going to be demolished if 37th St from Glenmore option is to be chosen. As mentioned, residents here half expected this was going to happen after all was said and done, so there's not going to be vocieferous arguments against it from residents, its the environmental issues that will be sticking points, although again, most environmentalists in this area have also conceded that this was a likely final option.
If this is the way its going to go, the big contention will be to not allow any access from Lakeview to 37th (to prevent the cutting through from Crowchild and vice versa), and cutting the casino access out (and prevent any parking in Lakeview and walking to the casino) off of 37th St.

Where's Cedarbrace?
....Or rather, What's a "Cedarbrace"?
On my work bench I have several "Pine Braces" and even a couple of "Spruce Braces". But this is the first I've heard of "Cedar Braces"!!!
To quote Joseph Campenella, "What will they think of next?"

In before the... merge?
I'm not sure why we can't just build a wall in front of the casino access. I'm assuming that 37th is at least a couple feet within city ground.

"Douglas Fir" brace is traditional. But there are a lot of young punks out there using materials that none of the old timers would ever think of!

Not so sure...the community bulletin says 103, and counting on Google earth, there are 63 houses in Lakeview that front onto 37th St. I am guessing there will be sections closer to Glenmore that will have two rows demolished.

Whoah, hold your horses everyone. As far as I have heard, there is only speculation about a Plan B and it is far, far from a certainty, and there are huge issues to overcome.
The only thing I've heard talked about seriously right now is proceeding with upgrading the intersection at Glenmore and 37th, as that has been needed for years now.
Also, you have to fault City planners of yesteryear for this disaster, allowing that much development South of the resevoir without securing a North-South access first was a huge mistake.

Upgrading 37St & Glenmore means Plan A.
Interchange at 37St & Glenmore means Plan B.
The release of the plan of ungrading the intersection only will make the Nation in a good position again. What a joke!

People in these communities should have known this was always a possibility. I lived in Oakridge Estates in the 1980s and we knew this could possibly happen back then.
