And how does PETA suggest that we find a source of breast milk large enough for all the Ben & Jerry's icecream in the world?
Okay, fine, if anyone can find a source, I guess it's PETA. At least the ad campaign for this initiative should be good.

You see, I like Peta. They serve two useful purposes in this world. Neither is what they intend, mind you, but that's life.
First, they are akin to the state fair or circus side show. People in general like to go see the bearded lady or the super strong midget because it makes them feel better about themselves. "At least I'm not a freak like they are." Peta is the freak show of the lobby group set. Nobody actually cares what PETA has to say or what their goals are, we just want to look and point. PETA gives us exactly what we want, but are completely oblivious to the fact that doing so does not help their aims.
Second, they are a form of economic Darwinism. Frankly, only the gullible support groups like PETA, and it is better that they throw their money away to an ultimately harmless and useless group than give that money to anyone who can actually cause harm to the world.

PETA knew what they were doing when the sent this. Just trying to drum up publicity and attention for the issue.
I like Ben and Jerry's response though:
Quote:
Ben & Jerry's spokesman Rob Michalak said the company applauds PETA's creative approach to bring attention to an issue, but believes that a mother's milk is best used by a child.

PETA is completely aware of the shock ads they promote, completely happy and confident about the methods they use to promote their cause.
The feel that the ends justify the means, and anyone who studies history should be not only weary of this thinking, but outright disturbed by it.

A) There are already plenty of vegetarian alternatives for ice cream, so I don't know what they are going on about.... my personal favorite is "So Delicious Peanut Butter and Chocolate frozen desserts".
B) Yes, this is getting PETA into the newspapers. But I think, again, it is turning so many people off from their cause. Hell, if I see more of their ads like what they did with Tim MacLean, I'm going out and having a hamburger.

IF Tom and Jerry's DID go ahead and follow this suggestion, what would the price of ice cream be? $100 a container?

I'd like to order Jessica Alba's breasts to act as a milk dispenser for my coffee in the morning.
That would be awesome, I'd just reach over and give em a squeeze.
Good to see that Peta agree's with my woman for slavery political platform.

Peta wants people to react with "but that would require so much breast milk, it would be cruel to get it from people", then they say "But thats what they do to animals ALL THE TIME" thats when our collective jaws drop and we say "I never thought of it that way before! I'm going to stop eating meat and act all self-righteous around people that do, thank you so much!!!! Heres my wallet, take what you need, you renegade angels you."
They want us to stop eating cows, and not have pets, so Peta basically wants domesticated animals to become extinct. Also, the head of Peta has diabeties and Peta does not protest animal testing done by diabetes researchers.

I love when people who know very little about a topic spread misinformation about it.
1. The head of PETA doesn't have diabetes.
2. PETA endorses any nonviolence in spreading their message. So they don't believe the ends justify the means. This campaign in itself makes biological sense. Other species do not consume other species milk, why do we? In fact milk isn't really that good for you after you grow up... Are you shocked?
3. You guys all say how PETA turns off so many people with their message, but you fail to realize how many people they turn on. Are they likely to get a 28+ yr old to convert? No. That's not their target. They target teenagers and college kids who are impressionable and open to radical ideas.
4. In the FATA thread that was closed someone said they cook the books. No way in hell they do this as the IRS has investigated them numerous times with no evidence of guilt coming up.
I'm no longer a member of PETA because of some disagreements about how they do things, but I just don't like when people start spouting off info as facts about the organization when they know nothing of it.

I don't have much of an opinion on PETA, but I do like milk so I will respond to this. Other species do not build spaceships to the moon either. I am sure if animals had the technology and opposable thumbs they would drink other species' milk. In fact, so long as I do all the grunt work of buying and pouring, my cat will quite happily drink cow's milk. I would imagine there are lots of tiny symbiotes in mammals that feed on milk as well.
Is milk not that good for me? Well it is rich in vitamins A, D, and calcium I believe but Pepsi isn't good for me either and I still enjoy drinking it. I like drinking milk, especially with cereal, cookies, etc. I don't really care if it makes biological sense or not. In fact, I am not really sure what biological sense means.

I guess I should clarify a few things. First off whether milk in itself is bad for you is debateable. The hormones and additives that are now added to milk are not good for you.
This part has nothing to do with any of this, but are you sure your cat isn't lactose intolerant? The majority of cats get upset stomachs and/or diarrhea from cow's milk.
This is what I mean by biological sense. I am flabbergasted by how people think it's ridiculous to suggest we drink human milk. Humans produce milk for humans. Rhinos produce milk for rhinos. Giraffes produce milk for giraffes. Cows produce milk for cows. I am not saying it's impossible to take milk that's intended by nature for cows and give it to humans or cats, but i think it's very clearly produced in nature to be consumed by cows.

From my understanding, skim milk is just fine. Whole fat milk is a problem, however.
