I never believed PETA did anything good for animals, and here we are with the proof.

SF Chronicle

DON'T BE FOOLED by the slick propaganda of PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The organization may claim to champion the welfare of animals, as the many photos of cute puppies and kittens on its Web site suggest. But last week, two PETA employees were charged with 31 felony counts of animal cruelty each, after authorities found them dumping the dead bodies of 18 animals they had just picked up from a North Carolina animal shelter into a Dumpster. According to the Associated Press, 13 more dead animals were found in a van registered to PETA.

.....

The Center for Consumer Freedom, which represents the food industry, a frequent target of PETA campaigns, released data filed by PETA with the state of Virginia that shows PETA has killed more than 10,000 animals from 1998 to 2003. "In 2003, PETA euthanized over 85 percent of the animals it took in," said a press release from the lobby, "finding adoptive homes for just 14 percent. By comparison, the Norfolk (Va.) SPCA found adoptive homes for 73 percent of its animals and Virginia Beach SPCA adopted out 66 percent."

PETA is just a bunch of attention seeking wackos with low self-esteem, I've never liked them either.

A lot of animals that are brought in because of abuse have to be put down because they pose a danger to people and other animals. I doubt they are just killing these things for kicks.

All they seem to be are a bunch of tree hugging hacky sac playing buzzheads. They do more harm than good, just look at the billboard they put up in Edmonton before last christmas saying that Santa wasn't comming this year, they told me after I sent them an email that it was to get people to stop drinking milk.

PETA also put a billboard up in Edmonton against eating meat. A radio station up there responded by holding a BBQ right underneath that sign.

Alberta is not the place to be campaigning against meat consumption.

Yep, there's nothing like going out, finding a cow and tearing its still beating heart out of its chest cavity, chucking it on a roll with some fresh swiss cheese and a helping of mustard and eating it with a side order of toungue and brains.

mmmmmm mmmmmm now thats a spicy meatball.

Seriously, I have no problem with lifestyle choices, I have no problem with protesters. I have a lot of problems with PETA, and the way they go about thier business.

I like steak as much as the next Albertan. Ranching, however, is a pretty poor way to use the land. I'm pretty sure that soy produces _much_ more food (and probably healthier for you) than cattle per area-unit.

Of course, who wants to eat a Soy-Steak, right?

What's the difference between a tree-hugging protestor and an animal-hugging PETA to you?

Tree huggers don't deal in the same kind of absolutes as Peta.

Tree huggers don't put up bulletin boards that upset children.

Tree huggers are nowhere near as self righteous as Peta is

Treehuggers don't kill animals enmass and then lie about it by telling animal shelters that they're finding good homes for orphaned animals while eating a big old bucket of KFC.

Tree huggers are more concerned with thier cause then fundraising and public image.

PETA is a big money making organization.

don't forget their poster of slain prostitutes with the caption "the other white meat"
i don't even remember what their angle was but it was beyond even left leaning canadians and was quickly quashed.

or the people set up outside elementary schools telling kids that milk is bad for them and beer is better.

sickos
