(On my computer now)
Overall, I really like my Ipod touch so far.
The Internet is slick (and easy to use). Youtube looks amazing, but they still don't have many videos converted yet (A search for "calgary flames" gave nothing) . Music also sounds great on it. As for the keyboard, I was skeptical at first...but the way each letter appears above your finger as you type makes it quite easy. The Itunes store is great because of how you can preview tracks.
That being said, I still would not want to type out long messages on it. My Touch also didn't load all of my album art, for some reason. And syncing it the first time takes quite a while. Lastly, not being able to edit the calendar upsets me a little more than I thought it would.
All in all, It's quite nice.

Of course it takes a while...You're syncing 16 gb of music through usb!
Glad to hear the keyboard works well though. Have you been able to connect to secure networks? Does it recognize it needs a username/password?
If your album art isn't a certain size that could be the problem...I had the same problem on my ipod.

When you say you are unable to edit the calendar, you mean what exactly?

means that unlike the iphone, you can not create new calendar events or modify existing ones. all you can see is see the events you created and sync-ed with your computer. the most annoying thing i have found on the touch, considering its open in the iphone.

Strange, on my iphone i'm able to find a ton of youtube videos. Are they formatted differently from the ipod touch?
In fact I'm watching one right now as I post this.

Yes, you would need a wireless router, unless your neighbors don't have their wifi locked down =P

I really dont get the purpose of it because when I'm near my router, I can go on the internet on the computer... I heard in some cities they have citywide wifi, Calgary should get something like that.

Im confused about the wifi, is it actually wireless internet like on a laptop, or do you pay per kb like other cell phones (question is for itouch and iphone). Also as an XM subscriber could I actually listen to xm live online wherever there is a wireless hotspot (for free?) like I do with my laptop?

I made a mistake when I wrote that at first. It's got tons of videos.

For both yes, it is real WiFi like on a laptop, not a cell connection (though of course with the iPhone you can also do data over the cell connection).
For XM, not sure but I doubt it, they probably need some sort of player installed don't they?

youtube videos don't work on the touch if u go through safari but they work when u go through the youtube button off the main screen. I think it's something about incompatibility with flash since youtube reencoded every video it had to work with iphones/ipods.

it's actually wireless internet like on a laptop (itouch). the iphone can surf the net using edge, which is over the cell network, but that cost lots (depending on your data plan). I don't know what the xm interface is (streaming wma or flash) but i'm gonna guess it won't work.

Beauty! As fas as needing some sort of player, I wouldnt think so. On a laptop you just click listen now and it just plays through the browser, or on Windows Media player on a mac. Mhh that would be awesome to walk around MRC listening to live xm all day.

It plays through the browser, but how does it play? There has to be some sort of media player (browsers can't do it themselves), it's just presented in a way to hide the player.
A quick search though and it looks like someone came up with a way to play it through the internet radio player!
