Woman sought in Calgary bank robbery

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of a woman wanted in connection with a Calgary bank robbery.

Police say around 6 p.m. on June 23, a woman walked into a bank in the 8200 block of Centre Street N.E. and passed a note to the teller indicating she had a gun and was demanding money.

The teller complied, handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect fled the scene “via unknown means,” said acting Staff Sgt. Darrel Schmidt with the Calgary Police Service robbery unit.

No one was injured and no weapon was actually seen.

“The unusual part is, we don’t have many female bank robbers,” Schmidt said, calling it a mostly male-dominated crime.

As police have not been able to find her and interview her, the motive and her circumstances are not yet known, he added.

Thanks to witness information and CCTV footage, police were able to identify a suspect and lay charges.

Jenna Margaret Interman, 30, of Calgary, is wanted for robbery and possession of a weapon. She is also being sought for a residential break-and-enter and theft in an unrelated case, as well as a breaching conditions of a previous release, police said.

Anyone with information on Interman’s whereabouts is urged to contact police.
