Default Peter Jackson to Executive Produce "The Hobbit"

This is my early Christmas present!

http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/ap/2...800716000.html

No word on who is directing yet, hopefully it will be Jackson.

Awesome. The Hobbit is easily my childhood favorite. I've read that book half a dozen times even though I could never seem to slog my way through the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Smaug and Dwaves... Oh yes...

Does anyone remember Peter Jackson's King Kong? I forgot all about it until it was on the movie channel the other day.

Matter of fact, didn't he also do the Lord of the Rings trilogy?

You have got to be kidding me! He would drive this franchise deep into the ground.

Transformers, Armageddon, The Rock, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys,

His CV, as stated above, is debatable. Jackson is the only one that should be near this film to keep it consistant with the LOTR trilogy.

I laughed at how poor of a film transformers was.

I take issue with "The Rock" being on that list.

Although you can't debate some of those other films. I saw transformers for the first time last week and while the special effects were solid, the rest of the movie left a lot to be desired. That had to be one of the worst patchwork romances slapped on to a movie that I've ever seen, and the writing at times (most of the time) was just plain awful.

I like Bay, he has his place..

I'm not so sure how much steam this Hobbit flick will have. They pretty much told to story in LOTR. Seems like a money grab, but I can't complain. Something to look forward to

Awesome, that was one of the best southpark episodes ever, all three of them.

Gentlemen, the terrorists have attacked . . . our imagination.

I am very excited about this film, I am a huge LOTR fan like most people are. Should be pretty interesting, I wonder if they will bother getting Orlando back for a cameo or just skip over that part.

At the risk of derailing the thread, I agree on Transformers. I thought the only purpose the female lead actress served in that film was to inject a pair of breasts into the script. Her character added nothing to the film.

As far as the Hobbit goes, it should be great since Frodo won't be anywhere near it.

For the most part, it's a completely different story that has little to do with the Lord of the Rings other than a little bit of setting up the plot for that tale.

Dude that is awesome..that's all you really need to see.

I hope it has some resemblence/continuity with the Lord of the Rings movies. Those were pretty much as good as the movies could have been.
