I Hate Cancer
I hate cancer. My mom was relatively healthy for a 60 year old woman - she still loved to hike, and stuff like that. She had breast cancer 5 or 6 years ago, but that was treated, and we thought was gone.
This summer, she starts getting a little bit tired, but that could be because of any number of things. This sickness/tiredness persists, so she goes to see the doctor. Ultrasound is scheduled, wait for results, CT scan is scheduled, and while we were waiting for results, mom got to the point where she couldn't get up from the couch by herself, and she hadn't rally eaten much for a while. My dad took her in to the hospital a week ago.
Anyway, she has days, maybe weeks to live.
Two of my wife's aunts have already died from cancer, it took my grandma too, and others related to both of us. Others have had it, and recovered, but it's still hard.
I hate cancer. Can we make a plan to exterminate it within 10 years?

I'm sorry to hear that.
I lost a favorite aunt to throat and lung cancer last year, she was a woman who never smoked, drank very little and lived a fairly healthy lifecycle.
Its the worst disease in the world for family members as well

Ugh, sorry to hear that. My grandma is in the last days of her battle with cancer too....and my other grandma died last summer of it as well. Just a horrible horrible thing to go through for anyone.
Imagine if all the money countries waste on stupid wars would go towards researching/fighting cancer?

Wow. My mom had breast cancer about 7 years ago. A few years ago, they thought it had come back, but the mass was scar tissue. I hope and pray it never comes back.
I am terribly sorry to hear of your mom's situation. I can't imagine your pain. Just try your best to be there for her.

Sorry to hear. Spend all the time you can with her. It truly does make a difference. Hit me up with a PM if you need to chat.
My father at the age of 59 was diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer(never smoked in his life) on April 1, 2008 and passed away at the age of 60 on January 13, 2009. I miss him everyday but I cherish the time we got to spend together before his passing.
Gold bless your family.

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. Cancer takes people at random it seems way before their time. I hope you are able to spend some quailty time before she's gone.
I lost my Mom this spring to Cancer and my Dad 10 years ago. I'm 44 and have no parents because of Cancer. That's BS.
I support your plan to have it exterminated in ten years.

Terribly sorry to hear of your family troubles.
My aunt came to live with us during the final months of her life (my mom is a nurse). I was 13 years old ... not an enjoyable time for a kid (or anybody else for that matter).

Really really sorry to hear.
I don't have much to add except cherish every moment, ensure you get to say what you have to say and keep an eye on your dad.

I definitely understand what you're going through. My dad lost the fight with liver cancer last year. It was stupid. He was in great health. Had only retired a couple years back, and really made sure to take care of his heart since both my grandma and grandpa had heart disease. Next thing you know, he gets diagnosed with liver cancer, then 6 months later, he's gone.
The only thing comforting I can think of is that 30-40 years down the road, I'm gonna get my liver checked. And if cancer gets discovered and treated, maybe I can take consolation in the fact that my dad may save my life down the road.

Sorry about the news
Cancer is insideous in that often times the symptoms are subtle or nonexistent. Cancer can literally strike anyone, regardless of health history.
All the best to your family

Thneed, tell your Mom not to give up the fight. Most Drs give the worst case scenario, have her explore all her options out there.
Cancer sucks, got word a couple of days ago that one of my favourite high school teachers had lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. It's taken countless lives of people I know, I've donated time and money to the cause through head shaves, bike rides and other donations (Lance Armstrong Foundation, etc). I hope we can end this thing in my lifetime.

My mom beat lung cancer threw radiation, 2 years later while having a checkup and feeling great they find a pindot size spot on her liver, because you can't radiate the liver they give her kemo, she died 2 weeks later from Pneumonia. She was 72.
Still not even sure if the spot was cancer.
Deepest sympathy for your whole family.
