Default Passport Wait Times?

Has anybody had any experience with getting their passport lately?

What are the wait times like these days, both at the office and then to actually get your passport. I've heard 60 days. Is this true?

i did mine mid January, spent several hours in line at Harry Hayes, and got it a couple of weeks later. apart from that brutal wait time at the office it wasn't bad at all

Just did mine:

2-1\2 to 3 hours in line at the Harry Hays building to drop off. Make sure you have everything filled in and your pictures are done right lots getting rejected and had to run accross the street to get them redone. You have to have proof of travel (ticket or Itinerary) for 2 week turn around. I picked up 10 business days later (costs a bit more too) the line up to pick it up for me was only 15 minutes in the morning but the GF went the next day at lunch and it was almost an hour. If your mailing it I was told to expect as much as 12 weeks to get it back.

Also I didn't do it, but on the passport Canada website you can do your application partially on-line before you go down and those people seemed to go through quicker once in the actually "room"(the line-up starts downstaris in the lobby)

If at all possible, fill it out online beforehand. I went to the south office and waited less than 5 minutes, cutting ahead of all the people who had theirs filled out by hand.

The only catch is that you have to be a Canadian citizen over the age of 16 in order to use the online application, so if you're not a citizen or are getting a passport for your kids, you have to wait in line.

I submitted it on February 8 and was given a promised date of March 16 for it to be mailed out (5 weeks). I heard on the radio the next morning that they had pushed the turn-around time to 8 weeks because of the spring break rush.

I'm going to Europe at the beginning of April, so hopefully there won't be any delays.
