Default New Guitar!

Since I know there are many guitar players on this site thought I would share my new addition with you guys. I also didnt find a guitar thread in the first 2 pages of a search...so here it is

Left handed Agile AL-3000:

Made in Korea
2 piece solid Mahogany body with Canadian Maple top.
Mahogany set neck with Ebony fretboard
Abalone inlays
Type V Alnico humbuckers
Bone nut, but also came with a GraphTech which I am probally gonna switch out.

I got it with a slim taper neck as I have smallish hands and found Gibson necks a little too fat for my liking. It feels very good and is nice and easy to play. It came with GHS strings installed, but I dont care for GHS strings very much. They seem very easy to bend but just seem a little flimsy and twangy for me. Gonna throw some EB slinkys on this weekend.

The action on it is super low, like the lowest I have ever played on a guitar. but it only has a small amount of fret buzz. Its going to need a set up, but from coming out of the factory its shockingly good. Its better then my Peavy after they set it up at the store I bought it from.

Only got to play it plugged in for about 30 min last night, and that was through my Microcube. Cant wait until tomorrow and can put it through its paces with a tube amp. However it sounded very good through the MC and I was pretty pleased.

Playing it unplugged I was suprised at how much sustain it has just acoustically. I can hold a note and the string will sound longer then my peavy does when its plugged in. (Its got a Floyd though)

So far I am very happy with it. Cosmetically its damn near flawless, you can see some filler on the inlays but you REALLY have to look. The binding is just gorgeous, and the ebony fretboard looks awesome.

Anyone looking to get a near Gibson guitar for a fraction of the cost, I would recommend this guitar.

Oh yeah... cell phone pics dont do it justice, I will get some better ones.

Agile's are IMO the best value when it comes to electric guitars that I've come across. Congrats on the purchase.

Definitly! I had been reading up on these for a year or so, and my wife was wondering what to get me for my birthday. I told her to get me this, and WOW is all I can say. I am very impressed.

I've read some different reviews on those Agiles and was wondering how the frets looked on yours? Your message mentions it being good, but I've read other reviewers basically saying the frets were a bit of a mess and they had to get fixed. However, once that was done it was a really nice git. Your fretboard seems to be smooth and play fine?

The actual frets themselves are excellent. They are hand filed at the factory. I have heard some complaints that the lower quality guitars that have the machined frets have some issues, but my frets are very nice. No sharp edges nothing. The nek and fretboard are just smooth as butter... Like I said the only thin visually wrong is that I can see the tiniest bit of filler on the inlays in the corners, which you cant tell unless you are looking for it. (which I was as I had read it here) If I wasnt looking for it, I am sure I probally wouldnt have ever noticed it.

I love guitar threads on this site, I have spent far too much money (over $2500) in in the past 3 years buying and selling guitars because I have never found a neck that really fit my hands properly. Currently, I'm sitting on an Eric Johnson Stratocaster which is near Fender Custom shop quality for a guitar but the neck goes from soft-v to c with some radius and it's a bit too thick for my hands.

Any way I could try yours out?

My current stuff:

I would have no problem meeting somewhere and showing you my guitar. Just as long as you werent one of those flames fans who beat up the Oiler fan.

I live in Lloydminster but I go to Edmonton every so often, and Calgary probally just as much. Since the Ma in Law lives in Calgary I will probally be up there sometime in the next month or 2

That's why I think I need to start a club or something for people starting guitar to get together and try out each other's gear and to teach each other instead of every person individually buying hundreds to thousands of dollars in guitars and amps and teachers just trying to find what fits them best.

I've only been playing for 3 years, completely self-taught via the internet. It's been okay but I'm not that great.

Me too. Bought my first guitar to do something constructive at work when on night shifts.

Now have easily spent $2500+ on gear

True, i have a friend who is in the music buisness in nashville , whom lets me use his stuff. He taught me most of the chords but i feel stupid because im not to sure about the counting of music...... obviously i use chordie.com to find chords but the songs never sound right lol..... i have trouble keeping rhythm when strumming so i have been trying to use a metronome but i still dont feel like im playing any good lol

Most be something in the air with all these new guitars popping up on the site

anyway here's my newest member (right)

Left
Fender 57' AVRI

Right (New)
Fender Clapton Strat

After playing my No. 1 exclusively for 14 years, for some reason I get the felling that these things are going to start multiplying.

American Vintage ‘57 Stratocaster

Not a real 1957 Strat but a reissue of one from that classic year, it's actually quite close to the Eric Johnson model you have with the exception you have a 12 Radius fretboard, larger frets, pickups.... I would say the EJ is a more modern style '57 with a easier radius fretboard for bending the strings

Oh, brain freeze, I thought it was some wierd edition called Avri but it was just short for American Vintage Re-Issue

The '57 has a V-neck though right? I tried that one and I didn't like how it would fret out due to the neck radius on bends but the v-neck and round radius made it nice for chording. The EJ has a strange neck, no string tree. Goes from V-neck to C-neck half-way, and feels like a gymnasium floor because of the sticky orangey clear coat.
