FireFox 3 out today
The new version of Firefox comes out today at 1:00 EST. I've been using the beta for a while myself and it has some pretty neat features. Here's a video demostrating some of the new functionality
http://people.mozilla.com/~beltzner/...f-firefox3.swf
And for those who don't know they're trying to set a Guiness World Record for the most downloads in a single day.

I'm going to wait a bit for the addon ecosystem to get more stable. Firefox 2 with Firebug doesn't crash, but every time I tried to use FF3 beta's and RC's, it was a destruction derby.

I tried opera, but preferred teh add-ons that I had gotten used to in Firefox.
I've been running the Fx 3 since the betas and most of the add-ons I use seem to have caught up.

I was going to start a thread on this today but you beat me to the punch.
If you currently are a user of the Internet Explorer browser and have the ability to change, I really recommend you take the opportunity today to try something else out. I try very hard to not get all high and mighty when it comes to many things in my life, but as a part-time web developer there are few things on this earth that enrage me more than internet explorer.
There are numerous free plug-ins for Firefox that allow you to customize the browser to work best for you. I currently have an advanced adblocker (great for blocking out banner ads and other annoyances), a download plug in that delegates all listings of downloaded files into a status bar to ease the clutter and an ftp client for easy file transfer.
All I ask is that you try. Until you do, I will be right here judging the hell out of you.

So, you're saying I should upgrade from Netscape Navigator 2.0? But the pulsating "N" in the corner lets me know the page is loading!

I love firefox..
My favourite Add-ons:
Mouse Gestures
Tab Mix Plus
IE Tab
GMail Manager
FireFTP
Download Statusbar
Adblock Plus
Foxmarks
As soon as those all support FF3 I'm switching. It looks absolutely fantastic.

hmmm ... the download page seems to be unavailable for some reason. I wonder if tens of thousands of people trying to download something at the same time has something to do with it.

FireNES is the greatest add on. 2500 NES games in your browser. No Roms, no emulators.

No ethics. No morals.
Will I be forced to update to 3? I use the older version at home, and I avoid upgrading stuff that works to stuff that may or may not work.

I found that in the previous upgrade, it took a little while for the add-ons to be supported. So, I'll wait a month or two before I upgrade. The new features do look slick.

Judge away, IE7 with the Pro add on works fine for me.

I have a greasemonkey script that blocks all apps on facebook so they don't appear on my page or anyone elses. As someone who only uses facebook to look at photos people post, I find it absolutely fantastic. No more useless Vampire or Pirates spam....
To me though adblock is the biggest must-have plugin.

So for someone who doesn't use any addons:
What difference should I notice from the last version? The back button is different, and the reload icon looks a little nicer :P
The colours overall seem a little sharper.

I will never argue that IE7 flat out doesn't work. I will however argue that the people who make IE don't give 2 damns about web standards or moving forward. They force many web developers to work in archaic way that is very frustrating for future development.
You have a browser that works. I have a browser that works significantly faster than yours and is quite a bit more customizable. You can use your fingers to count as well, but it's much faster to just do it in your head

Blocked at work, same reason I don't use the addons. It is hard enough to find a download site that isn't filtered...
